My hair naturally curves/bends to the right. During covid, I grew it out for 2 months, and I have thick/wavy hair. By the end of it, I decided to flip it, and start combing it over to the left.

Is this good? bad? Does this fuck up my hair/scalp in some way?

either take a cold shower, or run your hair under cold water and soak it for ~5 minutes. minimally pat your hair dry with a towel (so it's not dripping, but you don't break your curls).

Let it air dry naturally, tussle it up a bit, if you have a very light hair oil, sea salt spray, or just something generally light and good for curls, apply a bit of it.

boom. there you go. if this is too much for you, or you can't wake up early enough to do it, then maybe buy a hat lol

Anecdotally, no poo is safe. Heard something about hair loss, but chalked it up to people not properly cleaning their hair, meaning all the hair that naturally falls out seems to accumulate and fall out in clumps giving you the illusion that your hair is falling out more. My curls got way better, but i got horrible acne as a result of it, and my hair smelled like shit.

I think the takeaway from nopoo was that for me, it was better to shampoo my hair with a cleansing conditioner like once every 2-3 days instead of every day. The other days, I'd just lightly scrub my scalp with cold water.

For me, and for everyone I think, generally shampooing your hair less is good. But nopoo is a bit too extreme and makes me smell and look like shit.

No poo is a complete meme. I was on no poo for around a year and everything was fine (or so I thought). But no poo made me develop seborrheic dermatitis, (pic related). It was the most awful shit ever. I had to use nizoral for around a month or so to clear it all up. During this phase, my scalp bled like crazy, along with full clumps of hair falling out. If you google it, you can find loads of other people that have had this same experience with no poo. Don't fall for the meme like I did. Just use shampoo in moderation. Just find one without sulfates. Any cleansing conditioner, used in moderation. I've found that you still have to use a regular ass shampoo like head and shoulders every now and then to clean your hair, especially if you use hair products.

If I can try to stop it I will, I think at least taking finasteride will help as the balding slowed down (which is common I heard) so I am hoping with some finasteride i can slow it down. Finasteride will slow it down and afaik the hair you have that hasn't minituarized too much will grow back thicker and give you a fuller looking hairline. I tried finasteride earlier this year but had to stop because of side effects. Got pain around my nipples which is a sign of eventual gyno so I got off that shit immediately. But side effects are rare as hell, I just got unlucky.

Check out the hair loss show on youtube, they got some high quality information. Stay off balding forums, they'll get you paranoid about side effects.

I've got a problem.
My hair is straight, thick, long, and coarse.
If I wash it (regardless of shampoo or conditioner, I've tried everything at this point except dry shampoo) then my hair gets dry as fuck.
It takes weeks for it appear oily or like I haven't washed it, unless I work out then the sweating accelerates this, but that's how dry we're talking.
But, if I don't wash it at least once a week, my scalp gets flaky and scabby (I have sensitive skin/eczema).
I've tried using products such as hair oils (of varying types) to make my hair look a bit healthier, but these tend to irritate my scalp more.
So, it's been a catch-22 of having unhealthy hair and healthy scalp, or healthy hair and unhealthy scalp.
Are there any techniques or products that might remedy this? I've been dealing with it for years, it didn't used to be quite so bad but I live in the desert now (used to be on the coast) and the dry climate has made both problems worse.
