What was /fa/ like in the early 2010s? What were the most common trends back then?

Palewave. When this board had enough users or power or whatever to actually create proper styles and have them spread outside of here, unlike dark academia and other memes that don't really get picked up by any clothing company, but then again that can be the appeal to some I guess.

dark academia looks better than palewave tho

It was always autistics who dressed wierd to compensate for lack of real personality.

If you're a dude. Plain white shirt and jeans for casual wear. It's really not difficult.

Is there a way to do dadcore without looking MFA? I just try to dress like Costanza from Seinfeld

Dark academia is coming. Some much younger relatives of mine are getting into it through tiktok.

I think so too, but its clear to see its too culture specific so it wont be picked up by 99% of brands, with the other 1% being companies that already make it people thrift anyway. Like neovolk or terrorwave. Also too “”””dressy”””” for Americants

Dark Academia is still very recent. It has almost been one year since it took off.

I was in high school back then and this board legitimately helped me learn how to dress like an adult. The focus was actually on looking LESS autistic, not more.
I recall lots of infographics on color selection, and the default outfit was a pair of black Levi 511s, brown boots, and either an earth-tone tshirt or a pastel OCBD.

I've been on here since 2007. It was legitimately never like that. You are thinking of Male Fashion Advice on Reddit.

I was the one who pushed conceptualized and puahed palewave here, as well as dark academia (and dark americana on reddit back in like 2010). I don't know why I'm still here, I'm almost 40 now

It's really funny looking back at the DIY stuff back then. 5/6-ish years ago minimalist branding or monochrome palettes were nearly non-existent beyond high end clothing, so people were having discussions about using markers to black out the contrast stitching on shoes like Doc Martens. I, along with plenty of others, would even cut off the stripe and spray paint pairs of Vans (mainly the SK8-HIs) all black.
