God fucking damnit, why does no one appear to make straps and cases for the G-shock G-100.
there's literally thousands for the GA-100 or the GD-100, but none for the G-100. Or if there are, there impossible to find, because obviously, every single search engine wants to be helpful and just shows me results for GD and GA.
Found some original parts (or so they say…) on UK-ebay, but if I get a new strap, a new bezel and a new battery, I might as well get me a new watch for just 5€ more.
fuck that shit.
Or please tell me that I'm just stupid and show me the aliexpress links for "my" case.

No don't do that. It might make it disintegrate.
Gently wash with mild soapy water and treat it with some kind of silicone lubricant.
Casio at least used to sell replacement parts directly. Dig around on the casio UK website and see if you can find a phone number to call. Ordering parts direct from casio (if they still sell them) is significantly cheaper that getting them from any of the internet resellers.

It is certainly more advanced in some ways. Whether they are more reliable or not is still out for debate. Rolex’s 313x have like 30-40 years worth of history now of being absolute tanks. There is a reason why watchmakers will often rave about how great it is to service it.

Unlike Omegas Co-Axial movements which generally cannot be serviced by your average watchmaker down the street. As in literally they do not know how and don’t have access to the parts.

imo its about the history/romance/"honesty" of the piece. Original hands, dial, movement etc. It all adds to the consideration vs the price quoted. No, but seriously, a lot of styles aren't made anymore, but I still like them, and if there's a reissue, it's often either with a "new and improved size" (and thus fucked up proportions, making it look like shit) or with a price that's so inflated that it's not even funny anymore or both of them.

>Support Canadian company
>exotic value (lesser known indie brand)

Sure, give me the machinery they use in those factories, and I wouldn't have an issue with it.

The only hard part are the finishing techniques, but that's like saying "you can't dislike engravings if you can't engrave something!". Personally I don't give a shit about optimal light reflection, I'm not a fucking woman buying a diamond. Does it work, does it look nice, does it have the features I want? Why are you this autistic? He (You) said Orients were overpriced. Implying that they cost more than his Guess shitter. They cost more because the Guess shitter is a quartz while the Orient is automatic. Considering that significant difference, the Orient is not overpriced at all. In fact the Guess is probably more overpriced.
Your question is stupid because it relies on the Guess and Orient being the same price and quartz. They are not the same in price or mechanism. So your question falls apart at its very premise and you are a dishonest bullshitter.

They make both genius, this one is 200. Which begs the question, is double the price worth it for 'muh heritage' or is it for insecure suckers?

If you say hello to your boss in the hallway and he sees you're wearing a Tissot, he'll subconsciously think you're a practical tasteful young man.

If you say hello to your boss in the hallway and he sees you're wearing a Guess, he'll subconsciously think you're a yeeting zoomer dumbass.

Assuming he's a watch guy.

But automatic watches are objectively inferior to quartz. There is no possible way to consider the Orient reasonably priced when it costs more and does less.

What planet are you people from? A smartwatch can keep time independently, maybe there's some model that doesn't have this basic function built in from Apple, but maintaining a clock signal is basically as simplistic as you can get when it comes to computing.

Now, is it going to keep time independently WELL? No. But if a smartwatch wasn't a closed off piece of shit, it'd be pretty trivial to write an offset program to correct it.

No but you obviously can get a new Grand Seiko for 2k. Not all GS models are spring drive with glorious 1000 times folded steel.
