I want people to learn that you do not get your money back with 90% of the luxury watches. It's a marketing lie. Works with rolexes because the brand is handled like a stock instead of a watch company. Also works with some popular models from other brands. The rest will lose money. By playing this BS kike game of luxury watches as an investment, people just set a trend and more brands will follow. Resulting in inflated prices and lots of nonsense.

I am 100% not a "watch as an investment" guy, but understand that you can either spend money on things that will strictly lose value or things that will at least hold some level of their value. You are right that you can't just flip any old brand, but in 10 years you Submariner or even your ETA Black Bay will probably hold the same or greater value as the day you bought it. To that end consumer electronics are just a money pit. It's not a reason to buy a watch, but it is a reason to make a big purchase from a sensible standpoint. At least then if you are in a pinch you could net very little to no loss and sometimes even a profit.

Again, I'm not advocating for flipping or investing in watches. That's a ruse if I've ever seen one. I would simply rather buy things that hold intrinsic market value.

I love road bikes, I like them because as watches, they are old devices that experienced a lot of evolutions and design changes over many years.I like bikes because they are simple, they have gears, you can work on them, the manteinance is cheap and they are incredibly useful for bringing you joy and happiness while you ride them.

I like watches because I like knowing the time,I probably check the time over 50 times each day.I also like them because they are little machines, I like seeing them move, even if its just a quartz seconds hand moving or just hearing them.Quartz digi watches are awesome on its own, they have a lot of useful features with no downsides.

I also love nature, bugs, animals and plants, but that's probably unrelated to any reason behind liking watches or bikes, probably the opposite, nature is not handmade, that's why bikes and watches are nice.

2) ugly and plain looking to me.
3) while I do enjoy tech, and in fact the tech of mechanical movements is a large part of the appeal of watches to me. To a timepiece meaningless complications are less impressive than logenvity IMO. an ETA that can last 100+ years is more impressive than a smartwatch that will last like 5-10.
4) when it comes to digital watches Casio has models that are more aesthetic, last longer, and are way way cheaper.

I do have a fossil Android wear one though, I wear it when I am going for a really long drive or some niche instances where having texts etc appear on my wrist is handy. So like once every six months.
