I am 100% not a "watch as an investment" guy, but understand that you can either spend money on things that will strictly lose value or things that will at least hold some level of their value. You are right that you can't just flip any old brand, but in 10 years you Submariner or even your ETA Black Bay will probably hold the same or greater value as the day you bought it. To that end consumer electronics are just a money pit. It's not a reason to buy a watch, but it is a reason to make a big purchase from a sensible standpoint. At least then if you are in a pinch you could net very little to no loss and sometimes even a profit.

Again, I'm not advocating for flipping or investing in watches. That's a ruse if I've ever seen one. I would simply rather buy things that hold intrinsic market value.

the normal regular tourbillon can be had from seagull for $1000. A swiss made one from tag (cheapest) is like $16,000. A dual axis from a swiss brand would likely cost you around 200k and up.

I love road bikes, I like them because as watches, they are old devices that experienced a lot of evolutions and design changes over many years.I like bikes because they are simple, they have gears, you can work on them, the manteinance is cheap and they are incredibly useful for bringing you joy and happiness while you ride them.

I like watches because I like knowing the time,I probably check the time over 50 times each day.I also like them because they are little machines, I like seeing them move, even if its just a quartz seconds hand moving or just hearing them.Quartz digi watches are awesome on its own, they have a lot of useful features with no downsides.

I also love nature, bugs,animals and plants,but that's probably unrelated to any reason behind liking watches or bikes,probably the opposite, nature is not handmade, that's why bikes and watches are nice.

I've been going through an old seiko manual, and I notice that they have クリアレックス (clearex) as well as hardlex. At first I thought it was sapphire, but then the superior models have sapphire clearex instead of regular clearex.

IWC and Omega just do touchups of their old shit endlessly and rely on their brand name, paying heavily for sponsorships, advertising and ambassadors. All of that money has to come from somewhere, and YOU as the customer get that privilege. I dont get the appeal of Fortis, personally, yes, spacewatch, but other than that, somewhat uninteresting.
