Hey /fa/
I have been struggling to find a good hairstyle forever. Recently tried growing it out for the man bun (without undercut) but i am losing my motivation. I can't even tell if my hair texture/hairline would even be suited for that hairstyle. Need some help/harsh words/inspiration. If long hair isn't the way to go, what could work?

Your hair is receding and looks too thin at the front for all of those styles. The man bun looks terrible dude.

Go the opposite, have the back and sides short, even as low as a 1 or 2. Then have the top a 4 and I'd really just have some messed up style on top with some product.

When you have recession shorter hair will minimise it. Longer will highlight it.

Then actually shave your beard into an actual beard. Create a line and get rid of that on your neck. Shave it shorter on the sides increasing the length towards the front of your face and chin. Then tidy the tache up.

Yea beard is not typical for me to have it this messy, that's a quarantine thing, normally it's at 7 with straight line and no neckbeard.

So you think a boxer cut might work? Or do you mean a proper undercut. Do you have a picture of an example?

Not an undercut and not a hard fade. Maybe a 2 on the sides and back that naturally will blend into a 3 or 4 on the top. Kinda like pic related. Your hair long like it is not on the back and sides just doesn't fit, especially because your hair is thinner at the front.

Being harsh, you just look like a scruffy dude who hasn't cut his hair and is slightly balding. It's way too heavy on the back.

Yea hair on back and side down to like 9mm is no question. what do you think is the maximum length i can get away with on top tho? Does it have to be like the dude in the black tie or could i manage pic related?

I saw no, that's kind of a meme undercut too. Very common. I just think your hair will be too thin at the front and it will just blow all over and that's a very posed picture, even his longer hair in the middle won't look good on most people and a but unkempt.

Maybe that style in the picture but an inch or so shorter on top. You also have to think in practical terms. How it will look when you're doing normal things or outdoors. Your pic also takes more care and barbers trips, the pic I posted, it;s even an easy cut you can do yourself.

Alright thanks man, i am getting the clippers

I think you should avoid those model type photos with posed hair. Most look shit irl and they are high maintenance and they tend to be a bit cringe meme haircuts imo.

Pic related is good. Takes away the weight from the back and sides and leaves enough volume on the top and front to minimise the look of hair loss.

Alright
Just to be clear, when you say 2 on the side, what unit of measurement are we talking?

That's probably short though. Maybe half an inch sides and back and inch to 1.5 inches on the top and front. You can always stay much higher anyway.

That way it's almost impossible to mess up the sides and back connected to the top at the numbers are too high so it creates a natural blend and fade.

Shave your head or get a hair transplant jesus christ. How has nobody you know told you how shit you look.

I would try putting in some product while it's wet, texturizing it, and leaving it to dry
The completely straight look is not good imo
If you want a recommendation, shear revival crystal lake pomade

Try regrowing your hair. It's been a slow process, but it's been working out for me.

My daily regimen: 1mg Finasteride, Lipogaine (minoxidil), 0.25mg Biotin, 1mg Vitamin B12, 140mg Vitamin E gel tablet, dermarolling with a 1.0mm needle sized roller, Ketoconazole 2% cream, Azelaic Acid 20% cream, a custom oil mixture (jojoba + baobab + peppermint + rosemary + lavender + a couple of drops of copper peptides for good measure), and Sephora's THE ORDINARY "Buffet" + Copper Peptides 1% (expensive, but you're guaranteed real copper peptides since so many fake products claim to have them).

I also add a pinch of the following to my daily 32oz. water bottle: Collagen Peptides, L-Carnitine Tartrate, and MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane).

If you want to know where to start, try just ONE of the things I mentioned for a couple of months and see if you like your results. If your hair was negatively impacted, discontinue use and try something else from the list. If you gained some new hair and you're satisfied, keep using whatever you chose and don't add anything else. If you like your gains but want to try for more, add another product from the list. Repeat. This is how you build your stack and potentially weed out things that don't work.

Keep in mind: Always judge your gains based on comparing photos of your hairline that are months apart and not by eyeballing it in the mirror. Also, keep in mind when starting Finasteride or Minoxidil, you may experience a shedding phase; meaning your hair will look worse before it looks better. You should give Fin + Minox 8 months before making a judgement on their results.

He's not even that high on the norwood scale, he just has relatively high hairline starting line which is adding to it.

>>15347154
I think product while it;s wet adds to thin hair looking just as thin. I'd spray in some sea salt spray after washing, then dry it. It will add a thicker more wavy texture to his hair. Then add some a little styling wax to rub up over the top of his hair and mess it up.

>>15347321
Jeez dude. if you are keeping or regrowing your hair it's likely because of the Finasteride. The rest is just pointless.

Oh and the only "regrowth" in the pic appears to be some vellus hairs so not even full hairs, it just looks odd. In fact it even gives the illusion you are balding and the the little thin vellus hairs are where you hairline originally was. And even if it was, the progress for 2 years without going past the vellus hair stage is terrible.
