I don’t know why but the “pirate” shirt is really appealing to me. Do you think it can be modernized ?

yeah, just use buttons instead of laces, you probably have to be fit to pull it off though

You'd have to be comfortable standing out but I think you could wear it as is. Another more toned down option would be going for the same silhouette but with a simpler shirt design, Ann Demeulemeester is a brand that comes to mind.

I used to wear these shirts. They're actually really comfy. Nor does your bicep size matter in them! A lot of air around your arms, fresh, cool and comfy.

I guess you'd have to hang around in goth circles for it not to be a larp. You could get similar to make it look more modern but without the big arms, that's the main thing that dates it.

I wear one, sometimes. It is indeed comfortable, as another anon said. They are roomy and airy, especially if made of linen, instead of cotton. This is where I got mine from.

Something such as this is based somewhat on the shirt but looks more modern and you wouldn't look like a larper, minus the hat.

I mostly wear it at home, and home is where I have spent my time for many months, now, but I have gone out to some places with it on, although usually with a jacket or coat covering much of it. It's not very noticeably different from modern shirts if you wear the kind without ruffled collar and chest, and the bottoms of the sleeves, but it does have wide sleeves, and a wide body.

I remember a bunch of hipster tried to bring back the pirate style at the begining of the last decade. Of course it didn't work back then.
Lucky for you it's 2020, and even if you manage to get out to the street, no one will give a shit of what are you wearing.
I'd try it with skinny jeans, not pretencious boots and long coat.
Plus if you have long hair
