I've got a nice looking penis quartz, but I kind of want to do either a crystal swap or a full case swap.

A crystal swap seems pretty simple, but these days the chinks are putting out some nice cases, which might be a nice upgrade from the current one which is a bit haggard and could do with being a bit more contemporary design wise. Are there any decent places I can find schematics diagrams for stuff like the NH35 to see if the distances line up with my old quartz model? Then I could just buy a case that can fit my module.

The dial is based on photos of a pocket watch made in the late 19th century by Alfred Jürgensen, which is where the watch gets its name from.

thanks. I was afraid the color would suck but it’s actually nice and uniform. Some bare steel inbetween the links but it’s only visible if you bend it specifically looking for it and even then barely. Only flaw is a super small purple spot towards the bottom of the pic, but it’s so small who cares.
And no, I probably should’ve but didn’t file the bracelet. It sure was a bitch to get on. But it seems to fit me fine.

If you're here, here's a pic.
The pins are holding the caseback/strap in place, also the buttons are part of the caseback, its rubber not plastic.
This means to swap the battery you have to remove the entire assembly, cheaper to make but probably caused too many issues.

It's pretty interesting how basic the early Casio plastic digitals were, even the F-100 has a plastic case back and that's worth crazy money nowadays. I'm sure there's even a model with an unremovable plastic case back but I can't find what model it was.

Redpill me on the Tudor Black bay 36.

I'm on the wristlet side and like 40mm and smaller retro like watches and this year I wanted to buy an affordable luxury allrounder everyday watch that will last a lot of years. As a dress watch I already own one so for this new watch I wanted something casual,smart-casual and as classy as possible. The other watch I kinda like is the Omega railmaster but the dial looks kinda cheap for that price point.

>"Suggest a watch for me."

>> Your budget

Around 2500eur-3500

>> Watch type, e.g. dress, diver, pilot
Something with a case like pic related, or even a cushion case would be ok for me.

>> Movement, e.g. automatic, hand wound, quartz

Mechanical, don't really care about inhouse movements as long as the movement is reliable, tough and can be serviced without being a pain in the ass.

>> Desired features, e.g. water resistance, day/date, 2nd time zone

No date, small seconds would be nice,.

>> Preferred strap option, e.g. leather, nylon, bracelet

Leather or nylon since the bracelets I like are mostly milanese and really few watches comes with them.

The hands in black are a mess, they should either be blue or metal to match one of the motifs. If that outer ring was an actual chapter ring instead of adding an extra 5mm onto the watch for no good reason, it might look nice. As is, it's got the same problem any of those clashing dials have, which is that they make the inside look fucking tiny and turn the whole watch into a porthole.

The newer quartz stuff is all low quality movements or dumb gimmicks like solar/radio/gps to make up for low quality quartz.

Buy an old Twin quartz in decent shape, service it yourself, and you're done. Otherwise the only real option is going up a lot of price brackets to get a spring drive.

Personally, I can't even stand power meters on watch faces. Solar ruins dials, you can't do anything interesting with a solar dial, and radio/GPS adds a bunch of nerd shit to the front of your watch with little windy indicators that nobody wants or needs.

Based. I’ve got money to drop on nice watches yet somehow most of these companies are incapable of making anything nearly as attractive as the SKX lineup without also looking like its for an old man. Truly sad. Why is this? Are they too much up their own butts? Is making something that looks cool, yet simple and elegant, too much to ask? Some variety in my lineup would be nice. Circuits are the easy part. Coil works? Keep it. Coil doesn't work? Toss it. How do you find out if your coil works? a 2 dollar multi-meter, or just connect a battery and see if shit starts moving. How do you know if the rest of the electronics work? You look for corrosion, if you find some, you swap out the board or try and fix it.

And then the rest of the watch is just a basic drive train that's effectively just a simplified auto without any of the worry of being a dumbass and letting your mainspring go flying off across the room.

Anyone who takes apart watches in a carpeted room deserves to lose small parts, honestly.

And it's not hard to find another similar model with a fucked dial or something to salvage for parts, I mean the only reason any of the components are going to die is if some retard puts a screwdriver through them or if the battery corrodes the shit out of them.

Yeah, of course. But most of their stuff is way below 300. Tempted by this, but yellow is really bold, so not sure if that's a good idea.

Maybe I'll just stay below 100€ and do my shopping in Russia.

That Seagull is probably 10x better quality than a San Martin shitter.

Those seagull divers would be great if they weren't 42mm.

Any good microbrands that do good quartz watches? Everyone just seems to care about mechanical.

42mm is a decent size for a diver though, it's in no way too big. My Seamaster is 41mm and wears pretty much perfectly.

You can't charge a grand for a 30 dollar "swiss automatic movement" if you make your watch quartz, so no. You have to realise that these companies are selling a lifestyle, a lifestyle where you're a fighter pilot, or a diver, and those kinds of people don't want reliable accuracy, they want the horological equivalent of smoke signals and to have to put their watch in a spinning prison every night.
