Blog post time, I tried L'Occitane L'Occitan today cause someone said its a good alternative to Marc Jacobs Bang. The burst of pepper at the start was great but the drydown reminded me of the soap thats used in public bathrooms. The pepper seems to come and go which is odd and I think if it was stronger and consistent I would have copped but desu, its not something I'll be copping and the search for a Bang replacement continues.

Also, someone here said they bought Eau Des Baux after trying it from the tester, walking away and not being able to resist it. I get why, its very snice and I agree to the comparison to By the Fireplace. While I liked BtFs opening more the drydown is so much better with Eau Des Baux and the quality difference is huge, particularly considering that BtF is $180 in Australia and EdB is just $80. Like holy shit, stuff like this is gonna ruin a lot of frags cause im just gonna think to myself yeah but that other frag is much cheaper and of much higher quality. EdB is a will eventually cop. Also it smells like Rooibos tea if anyone else drinks that. I tried the other two perfumes they had as well, I think it was Cedrat and L'Homme? They were freshies so I wasn't a fan.

I also tried CdGs finally. Wonderwood was ok. I don't have much to say. I didn't think it was nice desu. Black was very nice and it could replace Bang. It had the same blast and boldness that I've been looking for but Bang is maybe a bit fresher? It was brash and in your face. But I didn't get to try it on my skin cause EdB and L'Occitan were already on me. Is there anything else thats like Black out there? Theres no samples for sale on ebay either so I dunno what to do. Its not on fragrancex either, what websites sell CdGs? The more I think about it the more I feel that this is what I've been looking for for so long. I gotta try Blackpepper and Black Play as well if i can find it somewhere.

Why is it always VPH?

I live in a warm country and for that reason own 3x more fresh frags than other kinds, but I get the most compliments with VPH by far, it's ridiculous.

The true redpill is that your choices are always influenced by factors like that and it’s a good thing. Frags are all about how they make you feel like and often some narration in your head around them makes the experience way more enjoyable. Meant to do this threads ago, best and worst decants:

Best: CdG Blue Santal, had this since 2016. Honestly feels like a mini bottle. The cap fits air tight and the sprayer is all metal, the seller printed a snice textured label. Showing no signs of going bad.

Worst: My Infusion d'Iris decant. Literally just got this and you can already see the evaporation in the top of the cap. Seller didn't even PTFE tape the inside of the thread, but decided to use cheap clear tape on the outside with a shitty printed piece of paper that it taped over with the same clear tape

I’ll take the type of decant on the left any time and day over the one on the right if it’s reasobably priced. Typically the best decant sellers I dealt with were doing the same thing as the guy did with Prada. Printing textures and using fancy labels means that you’re most likely overpaying. I guess it’s alright to have a snice bottle if you got 10ml+ and want to consider it as a part of your collection but for smaller sizes you just want to get couple weeks of wear out of it to make up your mind if it’s full bottle worthy

I dont think its gay, its fun and flirty, made for men. The pear and magnolia keep it on the sweeter side of green without the artificial sugar feel. Rose is dark, like poal, but without the feminine seriousness of the potpourri incense, instead it has a pinch of nutmeg. Its just a fun fragrance thats not sugar sweet and was on sale. It does have a bit of that designer sheen, but the smell is different than whats being pushed, so I support that. The cashmeren might bother some people, and I accept that synthetic criticism, but the other notes are pretty good considering. Im eyeballing the body lotion now.

The penis is a bit of an aberration amongst organs. It functions by filling sponges tubes with blood, therefore there is a finite limit to how big it can get before it’s size actually becomes a liability. If your dick got too big, either A. you wouldn’t be able to get fully hard, or B. you’d pass out whenever you got a boner because too much blood would be required to fill it. Therefore, penis size tends to stay within a relatively consistent range regardless of height. Yes, an actual midget’s dick, on average, won’t be too much different from an average tall man’s. (that is to say, you’ll see people of all heights with small, average, or huge dicks).

Has nothing to do with cope, it’s just medical fact.

Eugene is officially the saddest sack in fragcomm. Goes from waxing poetic about curbing his addiction and "familiarizing yourself" with what you own, and "falling in love with your collection" about a month ago during lockdown, to buying 12 bottles in a single week after things open up again. I mean this guy is pathetic. Lives in a shitty 3,000 dollar a month apartment in Toronto, estranged from his wife and kids, filming the gas station across the street and sniffing the crook of his arm alone like some kind of failure. It's insane seeing somebody absolutely consume himself in a matter of days. He went from el mas basado, to a fucking loser, and a cautionary tale for anybody who takes this shit too seriously.

SOTD: Polo - Ralph Lauren (1978)

I already feeling depressed and this fragrance it's making worse. I mean, smells good and has great longevity, but it's strong and somewhat oppresive. The picture that I get in my mind it's yourself at a battlefield in easthern europe during autumn, severely injured, laying on the wet earth after the rain, surrounded by pine trees. Left behinded by your comrads, you're consumed by anger and guilty. You have flashbacks and see how mediocre your life was. You drink whisky from your canteen and then you die.

it's a way to justify this hobby. i've never smelled anything that absolutely blew my mind. there have been things that smelled fantastic and leaps and bounds above other offerings, but never the way some of these people describe them. describing perfumes in these bombastic ways is just another ruse these addicts place themselves in so as to add dimensions to scented water. if they didn't give themselves this, they'd have no way to make much more of sniffing perfume than it actually is. this is why i don't even read reviews anymore. if i'm curious of a frag or it's breakdown i just order a sample or decant.

Why is Viking more expensive than the rest of Creed’s main line? The ingredients are peppermint, rose, peppercorn, vetiver, sandalwood, lemon and bergamot. Compared to ambergris/oud/precious wood fragrances, this seems like it should be cheaper

>> No.15326225

Notes are not the same as ingredients. Every fragrance contains things unlisted in the note breakdown, the official notes are just what the perfumer chooses to highlight. And Creed prices are a meme anyway. They claim their infusion technique is what contributes to the higher cost. They also claim it is the reason for the batch inconsistencies and performance issues. Basically it is a technique that leads to both higher prices and inferior quality and yet idiots eat it up because of the “exclusivity”

I wouldn't describe it as particularly dry or earthy, personally, but I think that if there's a such thing as a "must try" fragrance, Mitsouko is one (along with Jicky, for that matter). I prefer the eau de toilette to the eau de parfum, if it makes a difference to you. It's hard to explain why, but I suppose it's because the latter seems more "bombastic" to me and I want the more subdued version. Either way, expect PEACH, which I've capitalized here for a reason.

My question isn't lamenting the cost, buying Creed at retail is retarded regardless, I simply mean how does the company justify it? It's not as if any of the ingredients seem particularly rare or exclusive, this is one of the odd Creeds that doesn't even have ambergris as a note. And it was one thing when this debuted, but the cost has remained the same even after the generally unenthusiastic reception. Why would this cost more than Aventus if it's pepper corn, vetiver and sandalwood?

This is now a Creed hate thread. You mean to tell me that not only is there no proof of a bottle of Creed existing prior to 1970, but also this company that has been handed down from father to son for 200 years working exclusively with various royal clientele and refuses to update the infusion technique that leads to wildly inconsistent batch variations in their $400+ perfumes because it would “break tradition” just sold to some fucking hedge fund in the same generation that opened the company to the general public? No one thinks this is strange? Parfums de Marly also goes with a royalty theme, but at least they don’t claim to have been commissioned by King Louis himself

Honestly, it’s kind of a more modern, refined take on the old school, classic Old Snice. You know, from before it came in energy drink cans and was marketed to horny teenagers. The one your dad had in his bathroom’s medicine cabinet.

To me, it’s very masculine and peppery, has this sort of dry, woody-vetiver thing going, and a lot of mint. There’s some citrus, but I don’t find it super prominent. Definitely not a “panty dropper”, and definitely not something fuccbois would go anywhere near.

I actually get quite a bit of rose after about half an hour on my skin, but it’s not the dominant note and I would never refer to Viking as a “rose scent”.
