We're good. Sometimes we just have spergs here who just have resentment for being called out on their bullshit or laughed at their choices and now just look to let release the frustration. This time one of them picked on you. More quick reviews.
>Community The Zoo
Chamomile toilet refresher. 4/10
>Mercedes-Benz Cologne
10/10 refreshing grapefruit opening. However, 30 minutes later on my skin it's mainly vetiver+dose of ISO E-super as known from EN Sport or TdH with some feeble citruses around it. 6/10 from me but I think I just don't like vetiver anymore, so can imagine this being someone's new summer love.
>The Vagabond Prince Enchanted Forest
Opens with a blast of blackcurrant jam that someone made accidental together with leaves. There's a sylvan aspect to it that comes out later when blackcurrant calms down but I wish was more prominent. There are about 20 notes listed. I can't really get much more than these three things. Strong projection. 7/10
>Histoires des Parfums 1740
Imagine 18th century officers sitting around a fire in their leather boots where they cook a meager soup spiced with herbs they could find around the camp telling each other stories. I get smoky rum, leather and bitter immortelle but this austere side is balanced with some lighter sweet undertones. 8/10
>Prudence Paris Imperial No 1
Big women's fruity chypre. Opens with a strong plum and peach and cloves+some sweetness accord that is reminiscent of Le 3' Homme de Caron. Very spacious and opulent. Overall it reminds me of Roja's Diaghilev. 8/10
>The Different Company Sublime Balkiss
Very, very transparent fragrance for the first 30 minutes; the note pyramid reads like a book. It opens with a big refreshing blast of bergamot and violets. Couple seconds after spraying they give the stage to a wonderful floral bouquet. I'm not sure how heather smells like but I can definitely get lilac, rose and lily-of-the-valey with a big dose of juicy, sweet blackcurrant that dominates this scent. It sadly looses this clarity on the way to dry down and morphs to a soapy powdery-floral cloud. It's too feminine for me to wear but opening is brilliant and I'd give it 9/10. Drydown brings it down to 6/10 tho.

I did. Spoiler: it's hard. There's more to perfumery then just mixing essential oils. You need carriers and other stuff on top of the fact that it's really not easy to get something smelling good. Under a good smelling accord with 2-3 noticeable notes are often dozens of different elements that accentuate different aspects and do the job behind the scenes.

Two more cheapies I tried.
>Salvatore Ferragamo Acqua Essenziale Colonia
An alright bergamot opening. After 5 minutes it literally becomes just white Dove soap bar with some lavender and ambroxan sprinkled on top of it. Smells just clean and cologne-y, not similar to AdP Colonia at all. I don't know about longevity but projection is shit straight from the beginning - I need to put my nose into my arm to get anything. It costs like £20 but if the Master Perfumer Alberto Morillas never created it the world would be the same place. NPC among fragrances. 5/10
>Alfred Dunhill Icon
Assertive masculine neroli with lavender and some spiciness to it. The first thought that came to my mind is a guy in his 30s commuting to his stable job in The City. He has his life sorted out, votes Tories and doesn't give a fuck. Top bloke all-around. For some reason it seems to me that women would love to smell this on a guy. It's not dated at all, but feels rather mature. Despite quite obvious fresh face there are some deeper undertones that I can't really put my finger on. Notes pyramid lists many things but it's very well and smoothly blended that you rather experience the smell all at once. The poster is quite accurate. 7/10

Little sampling didn't kill anybody, especially if done smartly at good prices. However, you'll probably develop full bottle commitment issues after sampling too many frags. The only thing that I found to be full bottle worthy after last ~50 tested frags was Azemour Les Orangers. Profumum Roma Ichnusa might be the next one but I still have my 6ml decant to finish first.

Yeah, Turin once made this observation that if the house is a 'concept house' i.e. you can clearly see that they have a lot of PR, very consistent marketing from the beginning and release their perfumes in some series all at once inspired by some bullshit concepts like 'the elements'/'body fluids' then it's most likely just elaborate scam where made by marketers not perfumers and where the juice is the least important part. That's why he hates Orto Parisi, Les Liquides Imaginaires etc. with passion. This stands in a stark contrast with houses like 4160 Tuesdays, Papilon, Nicolai were absolute mess in regards of consistency of the image, different bottles each year etc. That's the sign that you likely you get for what you pay.

Do you also enjoy the smell of a cup of saffron water every morning anons?

>> No.15240557

>>15240519
Jk, I’m not an Arab. I just stumbled upon a jar of it in my kitchen that my ex gf brought me from Dubai the other time. This note is so prevalent in oriental perfumes but till know I had not knew what’s the scent profile of it. It’s actually really unique I guess mix of the smell of honey and hay is the most accurate which brings me to my point. I shit you not most people must be making shit up when describing fragrances. You can learn how different ingredients only by finding common denominators between scents that are supposed to have them (that’s how I’ve learned how vetiver and some other stuff that I’ve never smelled raw is like) but it requires smelling many of them and very often when the blend is smooth you can’t tell any note apart anyway. But then you have all these online experts who pick up every note listed in the pyramid and pretend that the scent always develop on them just like in the pyramid with different distinctive phases not like some notes are as noticeable in the beginning till the end. You hit the switch and voila top notes are gone and completely replaced by heart notes. You hit the switch again and now heart notes are gone and you can enjoy only base notes lmao. My only conscious memory of something smelling remotely like saffron is Fragrance du Bois Oud Noire Intense and I swear to god that I’ve seen this note in many, many fragrances I tried. But I guess it’s even worse with wine snobs.

>Wafts

>Smelling Good Fragrance Reviews
Best longer/in-depth reviews and lists. Good coverage and wide variety of niche and designer compared to most. Not the most watchable but information rich.

>FRAG-MENTAL
Probably the best UK reviewer right now. Most normal, easy on screen, very watchable and consistently high production quality. Somewhat predictable but occasionally suggests good new things.

>Gents Scents
Not the best but consistently good. Generally decent range (although more designer than niche) and high volume of output. Tends to be the most to the point and rarely seems to fuck up.

>Roja Dove
Although it's largely to shill his own fragrances, he does put some good informative content out.

>Fragrance View
Used to be better. Doesn't really put much content out since he launched his own brand and seems to be going off in some strange New Age/spiritualism direction rather than talking about fragrance these days. Does still make some interesting content regarding the more technical side of fragrance though.

>Mr Smelly 1977
Barely recommended now because of the noticeable decline in the content, selections and quality his videos from 2019 onwards. Still has a lot of good old videos and occasionally posts good new ones, but that's getting rare.

>Others
Jeremy is babbys first fragtube, almost zero other value these days. Cubaknow is good for shits and giggles but otherwise has little value. Redolessence is just too dull, uncritical and onions. Brooklyn is abrasive as fuck, very samey in selections and not really critical. The Fragrance Apprentice does post some good videos every now and then but often goes too over the top and has suggested some real shit before, also his videos with Jeremy were painfully cringeworthy. Eugene is getting better, but still just not my cup of tea. Zaharoff's videos are comfy but he's not really a reviewer or introducing anything beyond his own brand.

Got my first bottle of Aventus this week (19U11), and what I can tell you is that apart from the more apparent pineapple in the opening, this is virtually indistinguishable from the French version of CDNIM.
