What does fa use as beaters? I've been using adidas gats but I'm looking to change it up. Currently looking at nike blazer highs or new balance 998s. In the past I used adidas gazelles and vans but hated how thin they were

can someone explain the point of a beater shoe. like you can’t care about your appearance and then wear the same shoe with every outfit, right? outdoor work? - work boots. running? - running shoes. hiking? - hiking boots, going to the beach - sandals or espadrilles. etc. do you really need a shoe that you’ve designated to beat to shit?
