I swear every ad for every a Eau Sauvage fragrance is great.

I think Cool Water May be more famous for its impact, and I’d say Sauvage is more infamous for being utter nonsense, but Eau Sauvage has endured. It was stylish then and it has a cool vintage look now.

Yeah, I have it. It was an impulse buy from fragrancebuy when they had it as a doorcrasher for like 20.00 a few years back. It’s snice enough, basically an Aventus clone with more citrus. Performance is only ok. I pretty much use it as a room spray or to bed on occasion. Pretty decent for the price but nothing terribly special.

After I wore London to the store this afternoon it rubbed off on my shirt and I get faint whiffs of the drydown now and then and its even better than I remember. The light spiciness mixed with the tobacco is fantastic for the price I paid.
Is that the oppoponax? Its the only frag with that as a note I've tried as I haven't branched out much into niche territory.

Idk mane. I get spearmint (that is not listed on fragrantica) and some fruits. It's not unpleasant but smells like a permutation of notes of one of 100 summer freshies from Mancera/Montale line. Imagine a guy wearing a barbershop fragrance after rough fucking a 20-something cutie wearing Musc Ravageur, choking her, pulling her hair and degrading her for an hour. His barbershop lavender got dirty and there's her perfume lingering all over his body. Pour Un Homme is how he smells when he stands from the bed to wipe his dick in her curtains. I get now why it is so polarizing, it's not an easy to pull off fragrance. If you can though, you'll be in love. I get around 6h out of it.

Aventus: coming from cedrat boise, it is similar, unfortunately. Less jarring and chemical-smelling, though. much more wearable, the dryness of the mid notes is very pleasing, i do pick up oakmoss

Virgin Island Water: beautiful. I'm a fan of Andrier's infusion line, so the sunscreen/lip balm aspect of this really pleases me. will buy my wife a bottle

Feve Delicieuse: I'm glad i can understand Sebastian now. this probably is the best from MCD privée. The powderiness is straight out of Dior Homme, but if the lipstick had fallen into a pool of melted reese's cups. scent trail is intoxicating. A bit upscale for me to buy a full bottle, but my 5ml will be enjoyed

Invasion Barbare: Amazing how such a familiar scent profile can still be surprising. Fantastic quality, very stern and deep scent. Greener than i expected. For the price of MDCI, i still prefer Chypre Palatin

Seasonality of fragrances is a meme. Prove me wrong. For most of us who spend most of our time indoors there's no difference in physical conditions if we sit in a sweater in a warm apartment looking at snow outside or if we wear the same fragrance in mild summer. We just want to feel 'cozy' so we crave subconsciously for spicy warm scents whereas over summer we want to feel 'fresh' so colognes, citruses etc are looked at more favorable.

I tend to think you can wear summer fragrances all year long but you absolutely can’t wear winter ones in the summer. The thing is, people say things like “you shouldn’t wear Tuscan Leather unless it’s cooler out”, but where do you go in the winter that’s outside exactly? You go to a pub or restaurant or you’re at work. Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you can wear it. Just be more careful with number of sprays and where you apply it and don’t worry.

Some of what you’re talking about is marketing I suppose. It’s about wanting to sell and image, not a scent. You can’t advertise a smell, but you can advertise tropical islands or glamorous black tie events.

Sloth smells fucking good. I didn't know it was a fougère, but I immediately recognized it as one, and a good one it is. Its not as loud as civet, which i prefer. I guess you could say it's chill. Yeah, Zootopian isn’t for everyone. If you have a more limited budget and just want a few snice scents for dates or whatever, it’s probably not the house for you. Nichefags absolutely should check them out, though. As for Sloth itself, I’d say it’s sort of in the middle. It’s got a bit of an animalic funk to it, I wouldn’t call it a sexy scent, but it’s such a cozy, relaxing scent. I probably wouldn’t wear it to the office or whatever, though. It won’t offend anyone, but it is a little strange.

Jovoy anon here. These three are all amazing choices. I'd add MDCI Fetes Persanes. It really deserves more credit. Carner Barcelona Cuirs is non-cucked Black Afgano smell-a-like. I'd try some Jovoys too. They're one of the best houses when it comes to patch&vetiver scents. Private Label and Psychedelique are patchouli classics. La Liturgie des Heures is my favorite church-incense scent (I'd get a bottle if not the average performance). I used to own Les Jeux Sont Faits - it's very, very dark boozy tobacco scent. That's how Mads Mikkelsen would smell like in the poker scene from Casino Royale. I was amazed by De Profundis ever since a sample arrived like a year ago. It does kind of invoke some associations with the grim reaper, but it's too beautiful imo. Pulled the trigger because I'm scared it will be discontinued.
Philosykos I just always knew that eventually will be added to my shelf. I searched for other figs, sampled many scents, I even posted here several months ago asking for fig recs. Alas, nothing is as green, succulent and grassy as this one.
I'm feeling great anons, think my collection is near perfect.

Have a paperstrip with Dylan Blue lying around right at the entrance of my apartment for 3 days now and I always get greeted by the incense smell when I come home and I love it.
I didn't think Dylan Blue was special but this incense smell is great, any recs for fragrances with a similar drydown or just with prominent incense in the drydown that is wearable?

I like Edition Blanch. Tart zesty lemon on the first spray. Dries down to a creamy sandalwood-lemon scent. Its not barber shop at all. I would say sample it first, because that thing is unisex. While a barbershop is all male.

I mean I guess aldehydic + white flowers accord is the core of this scent and I'm pretty sure that you can find frags like that but the Buxton's magic was that he made it perfectly unisex and much more than that.

Not quite just sandalwood+vanilla but I'd suggest you three things

That's one of very few bottles that I still own now that I moved mostly to sampling. It's my favorite masculine vanilla frag with woody undertones. There's also good quality cigar tobacco there and cannabis+citruses accord that gives it a bit of petrol vibe. This definitely doesn't sound like a warm weather fragrance but I assure you it is. That's the genius of Sarah McCartney. It's really lightweight scent and I guess you can call it simple.

This shit is brilliant. I can't get enough of it since I got my sample from Jovoy. There are two accords. One is a woody made of sandalwood+vetiver+gaiac but on top of it you have smooth as fuck boozy vanilla yogurt. Very unique stuff.

That's 90% similar to Edition Blanche (especially in the opening). But it rather has a smoother sandalwood+vanilla profile that you're looking for with a bit of booziness and more complexity to it. it's also better quality than Chanel but you pay a considerably higher price tag for that.
