I know different people like different art, but for me stuff like this holds absolutely zero appeal. I actually find it a little unpleasant. I think it's just because I've always been an artist and this is so radically different from the art I like to make and it's almost childlike in it's simplicity. Light and tone, colour and shade, anatomy, perspective, composition--all these elements give structure and coherence. Art can definitely deviate from being totally traditional, but imo you still need some of it to have artistic merit

I like realism, i like classical paintings, but it's the emotion or the message behind it that's important.
Sometimes there's both realism and emotion, sometimes not.

Vermeer, whose only appeal was realism (because he used some kind of camera obscura) would not be an important artist today. Realism alone has no value in a post-camera world.
But Caravaggio would still be important because you can actually feel something in his paintings.

I think these settings say a lot actually. The beauty of nature is the most enduring beauty there is, just as is our relationship with it. I think this kind of art is underappreciated because people aren't as drawn to the understated anymore. They want something busy, something that speaks LOUDLY. A piece that evokes simple feelings of tranquility, or warmth, or quiet radiance is likely to be viewed as boring. They find it unrelatable because they have no relationship with nature and haven't experienced those kinds of feelings, or if they have they quickly forgot them for something more attention grabbing.

I'm guessing at least some of the people posting are artists of some sort? What kind of art do you do? I worry if there is a place for more traditional art anymore with the introduction of digital art. I tattooed for 10 years and saw a lot of artists moving towards working with digital media to make their designs because in truth it's so much faster and I suppose it's easier. I never figured it out. Ive always worked with graphite or charcoal, ink, colored pencil.. it just feels like that shit is getting phased out idk.
