Do any of you wear military inspired stuff? Found this M-65 style jacket on a military surplus site that looks pretty good. It's cheap and has free returns so I figured I'd try it

I like to buy old milsurp off ebay, you can find a lot of really cool stuff on there. I bought some austrian paratrooper boots last time, I'm currently waiting on their arrival.

I'm not sure if it's technically milsurp. It's inspired by design, but I think it's made new with surplus materials rather than actual surplus uniform

Choose between the goretex and regular, hoss. Be warned, you'll look like a dork wearing it no matter what.

I wear a genuine M65, feel kinda autistic wearing it.

How come? I imagine the original standard issue M65s weren't tailored whatsoever and had a loose and boxy fit
I'm guessing pic related will be more suitably tapered and fitted as it's inspired rather than recreating the original. In my case, I went for this one because it looks like a good rugged outdoors coat, rather than milsurp core.

I'm not him, but they just don't wear well. I have a bundesheer flecktarn parka too, and it wears better, but it's just a weird fit and doesn't really go well with anything.

Wear well as in they're uncomfortable/a bad fit, or do they just not really go with anything? If it's the latter, I imagine the latter emanating an outdoors vibe like Orvis or Barbour

I got a size smaller so its not as big on me. It wears well, I'm comfy in it. It's that it just sticks out where I live, makes me look homeless. It was also used so it has oil stains on it and shit so that might contribute.

do you know where pic related is from?

I got myself an Alpha Industries M-65, and it's been working well for me for two years. Personally, I find it pretty open and boxy, but not in a way where it feels oversized and makes you look dumb. I generally wear mine without zipping or buttoning and just layer well if it's cold outside. What I will tell you is to go for military surplus, or buy from a US army supplier like Alpha.

what i have found is that it is super easy to look giga autistic playing around with milsurp. Definitely experiment with it and find some pieces to weave into your wardrobe but I'd be careful. Super easy to look school shootery/neckbeardy

I can confirm this, the first day I walked into school wearing my m65 (in high school) my friends told me I looked like a shooter. Of course, it didn't help that I was edgy and misanthropic then and now, but still.

idk how y’all do it, I think just being in the military itself makes me hate wearing military gear
