you can get chinese watches with far better specs at 1/3 of this price. And a seiko SNK 803 is only around $85.

If I'm swimming or underwater, I probably don't need to know what time it is. If I'm doing laps, I'll look at the 3'x3' lap clock at the side of the pool. There's nothing wrong with getting a homage, a lot of people only care about the fucking asthetic part of the watch, why should I have to spend 7K on something that looks the same than a $400 one? And if it's a different brand then you're not faking it, I doubt most 'thieves' even know something about watches and besides who the fuck steals a watch if it's not in a fucking safe or something?.

I would ONLY buy a replica of a watch IF I liked it a lot and there wasn't a homage version of it AND if it wasn't rolex, because Rolex is the only thing people use to show off and the only thing people know, it would be really stupid to own a fake Rolex when there's thousand of homages out there.

Any suggestions for a dress watch in the 300-700$ range?

Maybe 42mm.

>> No.15169500

>>15169493
you should not be going over 40mm for a dress watch. people here will say a dress watch should be 34-36mm but this isn't necessarily true anymore. by modern standards 40mm dress watches are normal but still pushing the upper limit. 38mm is a safe size and then there's watches that push it at 41-42 like certain grand seikos and blur the line, those are edge cases.
maybe you should look at the seiko sarb and think about putting it on a leather strap.

The chink watch may be externally flawless if you're lucky. Its movement, though NH36 in appearance, may be anything from genuine to second-tier to QA reject to spare part special to outright clone. Remember, anything that you pay extra for (a reputable movement, for example) but can't verify yourself is subject to chink shenanigans.

Most of the movements they use are descendent from the Seiko 6119 calibres and are actually pretty fucking accurate compared to 4r35/36 plus seem not to have the same QC issues that mid tier Seiko 6r15's have.

That said the new generation of 6r35 with longer power reserve might have sorted that but they are getting up round 600-700usd and at that price point theres some pretty fucking nice swiss offerings.
