Not actually a trad fag but the is a staggering majority of people have tattoos, and a majority of those people have uninspired abysmal and soulless tattoos. It makes me physically sick thinking about how pointless and hollow they are. 99% of the time theyr'e a waste of skin. There's nothing inherently special about them anymore, and not having a single tattoo is frankly more of a statement. Get a fucking brand or scarification at this point. Anything to stand out among the hordes of vapid losers who don't possess any originality and just regurgitate what everyone else is doing. (Yes I'm seething anyways)

I've got a lot of wood-cut/etching style tattoos, but I'm thinking about getting a few traditional American pieces done. The modern ones are really good in my opinion. Still haven't decided if I want any color (all 9 of mine are black). I think the end goal is to have an entire arm and leg covered with different pieces in kind of a "non-cohesive sleeve" style.

To each their own I guess. The way I see if is if you're going to do the "one on each arm" concept you have to be ok with not getting any more. It's definitely a good concept and lots of people pull it off. I think what happens though is people get more ideas (and once you've had a tattoo or two, it becomes easier to want/get more) and then they reach an awkward stage where suddenly they have too many tattoos for the "minimal" look, but not enough for it to look good. That's when they decide to finish the arm, put more on, etc.

Also consider this: the accessibility of good and unique tattoos is at an all time high. People are getting more because more is availible than just shitty tribal and barbed wire.

Personally I plan on covering my entire right arm, and probably my right leg as time goes on, but I don't plan on getting anything on my chest, back, stomach, etc.

Are you prepared to have a conversation in which you defend the position "I'm not religious but I liked the aesthetic?" If yes, fine, go for it, but that seems pretty cope to me.

A few of my tattoos don't have specific meanings, which I think is fine, because they're symbolically vague enough that I can relate them to who I was when I got them. This is in contrast to you getting, I don't know, Mary of Guadalupe as a back piece. How do you make sense of that without being a poser?
