Since im in quarantine im gonna cut my own hair. Thinking of doing something like this, is it /fa/ approved?

That's a simple cut. I always cut my own hair. The back is no issue. A fade is harder but not that much so, that cut without the fade is pretty simple but you do risk having a monk cut when you don't have a fade. The best way is to shave the back and sides on a higher number as it naturally blends into the top better.

A line like this on the back of the head is a bit difficult when you do it for the first time and especially if the hair is that short and you can't separate it by holding it up.
Easier would be to just follow the shapes of your head with the clippers.

General question about the 2020 mullet, do you think its better to wait until your hair is medium length at the back and go for it or can you start by making an outline while your hair is still quite short

I can't see a problem with starting early unless you want to introduce that cut all at once.

It's ez with a few mirrors and a steady hand.

But if it's your first time cutting your own hair then you should get a friend to look you over, because you probably missed a spot. You will probably continue to miss spots the first four or five haircuts. Hold a clipper to your head is awkward at first.
