The amount of FUD about masks right now is hilarious!
1.Proper N95 masks will work if worn properly and disposed of after 6 hours of being used
2.Any gas mask/respirator/whatever is going to need filters, and each filter only lasts for 6-10 hours. The filters also cost around $8 each ATLEAST(proper NBC ones are $40.)

The shit that OP posted isnt going to protect you at all. The shit that is getting hawked on craigslist is prob. fake and also likely wont protect you... But most importantly, EVEN IF YOU DO HAVE THE RIGHT SHIT, you need to understand that it needs to be replaced every day... I can almost promise you everyone who gets sick with these N95 masks will undoubtedly use it for too long, thinking they can get by only with one.

Probably less effective than almost everything on that list.
It could offer some sort of splash protection from droplet infection from nearby coughs and sneezes, but I'm treating the early evidence of aerosolisation as enough to justify further precaution - and a plastic bag will do fuck all against that.
The least you should be wearing to protect against aerosolisation is an N99, if you're not able to wear a proper, airtight respirator with P3/P100 filters.

combination of things for me:
1) you don't get the opportunity to walk about public in a respirator, gloves, tyvek etc very often. soon there will be enough public fear to justify dressing up like a daft pillock.
2) I'm kind of making a game out of it. I want to see if I can ride out this first wave, this first year, at the very least get to the other side of the peak caseload, without catching it. I routinely take long train journeys on one of the UK's most important rail lines. the carriages are enclosed public spaces. they won't get decontaminated frequently enough. they're canisters of poorly circulated air that people will have coughed in over the hours before boarding, and if the coronavirus is truly airborne, that massively jacks up your prospects of getting it. having a completely sealed outer layer, easy to disinfect after the journey, is just smart if you assume the virus could be in suspense in the air around you.
Plus if I take all of these precautions and still fall ill, that tells us that P3/P100 filters aren't sufficient to stopping it.

I used to be an RPPM and did respirator fit test for people using various Hazmat. 95% of people are a medium, unless they're a chinlet with a recessed jaw in which they use a Small. I wouldn't recommend a large unless you literally looked like Jay Leno. If your mask is too tight or loose you won't get a proper seal. Your head size doesn't really matter size the straps can be adjusted to the size of your cranium.

If someone coughs close to you, you will likely get droplets on your clothes/mask.
If it's aerosolised, it is worth assuming that whenever you are in an enclosed public area (especially if it's really busy, and has little to no air conditioning or recirculated air conditioning), that the virus is permeating the air and coming into contact with all exposed surfaces of your fit.
it's worth wearing a good outer layer, of waterproofs for example, and preparing a decontamination routine whereby you or someone else sprays you down with some form of viricidal disinfectant - I'd also advise against using an alcohol-based one anywhere near your respirator, as alcohol-based disinfectants compromise the efficacy of your respirator filter (especially if it's exposed like an n95).
if you're in public frequently and can't do a wash cycle after returning every time, try and find a kit bag you can carefully store your stuff in after disinfecting and taking it off. if you have a proper respirator, handwash the mask - a lot of manufacturers have instructions on this. obviously don't submerge the filter, do it separately with a cloth.

swimming goggles are usually more airtight than ski goggles or a lot of work safety goggles. I also find the ones I have fit more snugly over the bridge of the nose, giving more space for the respirator to give an effective seal.

Any NBC or ABEK filter will last in an non-active threat environment until the particulate filter gets clogged or it expires.
And standard P3 filter will last until it is clogged, so in normal use that will be months minimum. You should likely rotate your P3R filters since the virus particles will remain active until they desiccate depending on the atmosphere this could last from 24 hours to 10 days.

I've got an MSA Advantage 300, but the one that takes single 40mm filter.
Walt is wearing it wrong. It looks cooler if you wear the straps over the Tyvek hood, and it's easier to put on, but it doesn't work.
If you look at the first photo in the image you posted, you can see that there's a gap between the seal and the upper straps. there's no reason for his forehead to be exposed. the hood should sit above the seal but beneath the straps. in the second video he has the seal over the hood, which means the hood is compromising the seal.
the problem is the lower straps are not separate from the seal like the upper straps are, so you can't have the hood sitting above the seal all the way round but beneath the straps. it's a pain in the arse honestly.

his fit is definitely one of the best. I got tyvek hoods and I've got a jacket that buttons up tight at the neck, over the lower part of the hood that goes over the shoulders. definitely getting good coverage with it.
