Your local jewellery store most likely has pretty inexpensive thin chains on hand, that are primarily for putting pendants on. You can skip that part though, and just end up with a nice thin silver chain for 20 bucks (probably less than that since I live in Norway)

Amazon does work, just make sure you get 925 silver and not some kind of plated zinc shit. As I mentioned your local jewellery store will most likely also stock cheap and good chains.

Go sterling silver If you want something wider than 5mm. A gold rope chain that's 2mm long is gonna be about 750$ give or take. A big silver chain would be about a few hundred.
