Middle right is the best of a bad bunch but ruined by that Amish thing you've got going on. If you're going bald and go for a combover, you should grab a second mirror and have a look at the direction you've combed your hair to. You've likely just highlighted the thinning/balding area to another side and folks were likely well aware of it...best option if you insist of keeping it would probably be longish in top, slick back.

For pre styling use a thickening tonic (not a volume booster, you're just wanting to thicken the roots, they're different things), blow dry, add a bit of hair cream in your hands and work it though, blow dry while throwing it back with a brush, and brush in some hair fibres to conceal the thin bits.

Alternatively...shave it. Or get a hair transplant and get on fin. Regardless, keep that beard to at most a half inch.

Minoxidil has no side effect, but you have to be careful when applying it, since it can also make your body hair grow as it's topical.

Finasteride has serious side effects albeit relatively rare : gyno, erectyle dysfonction and mood swing are the most infamous. Basically take the shit for a few weeks and if you notice that you're losing your morning wood, stop and consult a doc immediately if you want to keep using the drug. That being said, by fucking up the DHT, finasteride actually raises your testosterone levels, making gains easier (it did for me).

Both drugs will maintain what's left. Recovering is a possibility but no guarantee. For recovery, the best results are seen with dutasteride, but it's A LOT stronger than fina and has really high chances to fuck your mood as it can mess up your brain chemistry pretty bad. I wouldn't recommend this option.

How do you make your hair have that wet look when it's slicked back? I don't know anything about styling my hair and never really tried it before. What products do that? I have only tried wax to spike it up and it dries out afterwards, so I'm not looking for that, unless there are different wax types?
