How much clothing should one person own?

>> No.14976502

three clothings

>> No.14976525

Enough

>> No.14976542

>>14976494
Enough to dress at least slightly differently every day of the week without doing the laundry. I'd go for more but that should be enough for most people

>> No.14976547

Two pairs of pants.
Eight t-shirts.
One rain jacket.
One winter jacket.

>> No.14976549

>>14976542
I mainly asked the question just to get a consensus. I personally have a vast amount of clothing and was wondering what was considered normal. Like 30+ jackets and 25 pairs of shoes esc.

>> No.14976550

Who cares what's normal? This is clearly one of your hobbies so have fun.

>> No.14976561

personally I would go with two clothings

>> No.14976565

>>14976550
Mainly storage is primary concern

>> No.14976566

Owning clothings is for the poors. Own a clothier.

There is no set amount. The barrier to entry is money, the rest is up to you. If I was rich my closet would not only be made up of every personal grail I could think of but things purely for collection and my enjoyment.

i have around 75 items right now including shoes, jackets, underwear, gym and sleep clothes.

yes i have mental problems and yes i researched minimalism obsessively a few months ago but despite how much i downsize everything else i can't stop buying clothes even twice a year or so.

>> No.14976800

>>14976772
that’s really not that much clothing, anon. maybe just slim down what doesn’t immediately make you happy or doesn’t fit quite right.

>> No.14977180

>>14976494
Enough that you can go through your schedule cycle (whether it be weekly, fortnightly, monthly etc.) without ever wearing the same thing twice. For most people this would be fortnightly, so 14 of all the basics and then go from their as you see fit.

>> No.14977211

>>14976772
75 is not very much. I probably have 15 pairs of socks and 10 pairs of underwear, which makes 25 alone from that. What I do is put my clothes through a "survival of the fittest" thrift store cycle. Every couple months, I audit my entire collection and get rid of anything that isn't consistently seeing wear or serving a specific, unique purpose. Mostly, I'm getting rid of clothes that have been made redundant by other, nicer or more versatile ones. Then I donate all my spare clothes to the thrift store and replace them with new items from said thrift store. This acquisition of new garments makes other items in my collection redundant and in the next cycle, they will be replaced. This ensures that my wardrobe is constantly evolving towards perfection.

That really doesn’t depend on what’s normal.

Normal for someone who cares about what they wear I assume. I'm about the same. I own 27 pairs of shoes/boots, 40+ shirts, 25+ jackets/sweaters, and about 20 pairs of pants/shorts. Many of my friends are in the same boat.

do you guys actually wear all your clothes regularly though? i'm somewhere between capsule and full closet and i find myself cycling through maybe half to three quarters of my closet on a daily basis, even when accounting for seasons.

do you guys lean into or avoid trends? or have specific contexts in which you wear completely different things?

I'm not one of the people you replied to but in my opinion trends aren't necessarily a bad thing if they fit your style and won't be out of place in your wardrobe after it stops being trendy. or worse; it becomes super trendy

I personally have acquired stuff from modern trends in the past but more focus on vintage these days. But I manly have outfits based on the context and not everyday wear.
