Only Tom Ford oil I’ve tried was FF from APO. The Aventus one Along with the other oils were just brought over to me by a friend who lives in Dubai. Idk where he got them exactly. One thing I’ll say is that the sauvage one is strong as fuck. Shit lasts easily over twelve hours and two showers.

as a guy who likes watches and is just dabbling in fragrances, I have to disagree. Frags remind me more of people into wine or whisky, where part of the enjoyment is from collecting hard to find examples but most of it comes from experiencing new things and expanding your palette or your ability to express what you are experiencing. In that regard it can become a quite involved hobby, especially if you get into blending your own perfumes. I love watches, but as you know most of that hobby is just buying shit off the internet. Watches get to be a true hobby if you're actually collecting and hunting down rare or specific examples (i.e. not what i like to call "reddit collecting", which is just buying a whole bunch of cheap shit and forgetting about it) or learning enough about mechanical watches to mod or service them.

Yup. I’m into mixology and I went to culinary school. Been cooking my whole life. Part of the appeal of frags to me is the combinations of notes and experiencing new and interesting scents. I think a big part of why I got into scents in the first place is because of how closely related our senses of taste and smell are, and obviously I’ve been fascinated with taste for quite a while now. I do have a very extensive (and expensive) collection, but I’m not just buying expensive shirt for the hell of it, though I will cop the occasional meme frag as a joke. I’m buying stuff I like. I’m nowhere near social enough to buy shit just to try to impress other people.

In terms of foods? I like a lot of different food scents. I love garlic, hazelnuts, fresh berries, basil, coffee, freshly baked bread or pastries, whiskey, rum, all kinds of spices (particularly partial to Sichuan pepper), really all kinds of stuff.

In terms of gourmand fragrances, I love Slumberhouse Sadanne, 4160 Tuesdays Centrepiece and Dark Heart of Old Havana, Black Phantom, even stuff like Mojave Ghost (love that sapodilla note).

Just saw them at Nordstrom at a decent price. They had the whole lineup but these were my favorites, especially Purple Haze. It opens very green with black pepper + woody base and dries down to more of a fougere. Kasbah is an oriental amber with a lot of vanilla and honey, very sweet. Chronic is the only one i regret getting, I liked it at first because it smelled like a very green encre noire with sharper vetiver, but it has poor performance and is very linear.

I usually wear 4 sprays (probably 8 sprays from a sample atomizer), and get whiffs throughout the day. It will never project strongly but it lasts AT LEAST 6 hours on me. It may improve some with maceration.

For me, performance is far less important than the smell itself. If you love it, get it. You wont regret it.

Maybe get the EDT, I have had a bottle of both and found them nearly identical in smell and performance. Price difference isn't insignificant.

In terms of similar suggestions, it is often compared to by Kilian sacred wood, but I found sacred wood more similar to CDG Wonderwood than Tam Dao.
Hinoki is totally different, but has the same, realistic, austere, and meditative style.

Between those 2 i'd pick Purple Haze for an office setting, it's the more versatile scent. Chronic can be a bit offensive because it's sharp and mossy. I’m honest because the formula for getting followers and money is basically a full time job. People love the “Top ___” list videos. Or praise videos. They don’t like more critical analysis (the good and the bad). I like how Eugene does his videos that have a vlog aspect, and analysis aspect, and just doing his own thing aspect. I just sampled yesterday’s haze that I was holding onto for a while. It’s alright. Actually in some ways similar to plum jap and in some ways better. IA overall is cute and fun but no really staggering creations. I sold my cape heartache because my Dasein winter nights was close enough and generally just better to me. Maybe I wouldnt't had bought Le Male like that because it's performance is trash and other men hate it, but Code Profumo is a decent workhorse fragrance. Encre Noire, as >>14915386 mentioned, is a solid cheap buy that has a very good wood scent. It really feels like putting a freshly cut piece of dark, oily wood in front of your nose. There are also classics like Cool Water and Drakkar Noir that are rather cheap, but maybe you don't need to own them, just spray them at a sephora or something.

Wearing a sample of (2016) zoologist beaver now. Probably the least interesting zoologist I’ve smelled. The aquatic leather vibe is different but it’s a somewhat generic soapy/dirty type. Like powdered soap. It has a sunny day vibe. Bland leather bland aquatic. I already feel bad knowing it may hurt victors feels some but dragonfly and squid were both positive so I can’t be a shill for everything. It’s kind of a gentlemanly kouros in a way but the unapologetic alpha like in Antaeus is neutered which is less exciting

Buying flankers of fragrances you already have seem like a waste. I would rather look out for more interesting scents. From the AdG line, the black(profumo) and the brown(absolu instinct) are the better ones. From YSL there is fahrenheit, which smells like gasoline according to some, and Kouros, which has an interesting solar civety scent. Check out Dior, they have some interesting frags like Eau Sauvage and Dior Homme Cologne. There is also shit like Valentino Uomo, Spicebomb and This is Him which are still designer, but much rarer and pretty good.

Tried Winter Palace by MEMO today. The opening was so delicious. The orange and the tea are really nice together. But just like any other citrus scent on me it only stuck around for a couple hours. When I wear AHSEE, it seems pretty snice. Maybe a bit heavy but generally pleasant sweet lemon wood. But when I smell it on others it really bothers me. The lemon tonka and vanilla form a choking powder accord that hangs in the air forever. Very unpleasant secondhand sillage.

Purely synthetic but also interesting and beautiful. Simultaneously light and full of depth. Warm but fresh. Not sure I'd justify the price on it, but I'm going to enjoy my 2ml.
