I used to unironically care about fashion since a day ago. Now in my late 20s I don't give a shit anymore. Anyone else feel like this?

My new years resolution: Stop consuming shit and wasting money on clothes.

If people are going to judge me on my clothes then they are not people I wana be around or care anymore.

It's honestly the most vainest and narcissistic shit ever. I'm glad that period of life is over. All the money I'm going to save and invest in my business.

I dont need to pretend being someone I'm not anymore.

I work a job where a suit is required. Nothing is better than loosening the tie, rolling up the sleeves, untucking the shirt, done up hair dried out and unkempt, and walking into the corner store for a 40 and a cigar on a Friday. Feels awesomely sleaze. Join me, anon. 5 suits, 10 dress shirts shirts, one pair of jeans, and gym clothes is all you need.

Right there with you. I was a grungy, idealistic hippy when I was in my late teems. Slowly became aware and capitalized on the social benefit of external appearance. Ended up spending a few months in Hollywood with coked out fashion designers. That's when it hit me. I met plenty of nice, sincere coked out fashion designers, but it really opened my eyes to the fact that the best connections I ever made were with people who would point out that my shirt was inside out, but not give a shit if I fixed it. If you and a good friend were traveling, and the airline lost your luggage, how much would it fuck up your trip? My point is that if you can't grab some random shit from a generic store, you've pigeonholed yourself with your priorities.

I don't put thoughts into how people see me through my clothes, I am a larper at heart, but a concealed one...I choose a role model, like Jackie Chan, JCVD or a film figure, and try to emulate and copy aspects of their fashion. It's pure fetishism in its original meaning - not the sexualized one.

I felt like this a years ago but I was simply broke as fuck and couldn't afford to care honestly. I have money now and still don't care much for getting into fashion again. In my mid-20s I like buying things made to last. I've made good strives with my consumerism and Stopped shopping at the mall 4 years ago. If I feel indecisive about an item and have to think if I want to buy it for more than a minute I don't get it. I like people that care about how they look. People that understand proportions and fit that also appreciate quality. I dislike brand whores immensely. One of my old friends from high school was asking me if he should get yeezys a couple of months ago and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I just told him idk I don't care about clothes anymore. I wear basics on the daily now and have been for a while. All is well.

In the early 2010s I was really into the/fa/ “goth ninja” or techwear look. After graduating college, getting my first real job, making money, and growing up I got into the preppy whitebread look. Now that I’m approaching my 30s I’m going into the King of the Hill/ Hank Hill look. Throughout the previous decade I took inspiration from Rick Owen’s “fitness is couture” quote. I put fitness and a healthy lifestyle as a priority over fashion. I’m in much better shape than most of my dadbod peers. I’ll dress up if I want to, or only for necessity. But from now on I’m wearing cowboy boots, dad jeans, and tucked in tshirts for the rest of my life. I’ll post a before and after pic if anyone cares

yeah wasted so much money in my early 20s on clothes and stuff

now that I rarely, if ever look at waywt threads nor do I really visit these types of boards, the less I desire and the more my style came together on its own and feel I have everything down compared to when I spend more on clothes.

man the amount of memes I fell for is just cringe

seriously though, advice from a fellow 30 year old boomer

get some real hobbies over this shit. or at least never make clothes your main hobby. it's never fullfilling. just a constant instant gratification chase. should more so only have it as a secondary/minor hobby if anything. plus nothing more cringe than a dude who isn't gay who openly talks about how clothing and fashion is their hobby. straight fag shit that unironically only gays do while looking corny af. especially if you don't dress good enough to say fashion is your life.

for me what worked was getting into gardening and cars. not only are they filling and actively fun. but your clothing choices become more focused where you want practicality/durability yet still look good. and cos you actually do that shit. your clothing actually reflects you living that lifestyle instead of seeing mc ride and mimicking his clothes yet you are some soft body weeb whose lifestyle and personality doesn't reflect mc rides aura or whoever waywt pic you liked

welcome to early 30 year old boomerhood. its better to dress for a purpose, function, beliefs and comfort that matches your lifestyle than it is trying to keep up with boujee zoomers/impulsive cubical cuck trends. your decent looks probably faded and your youth has withered so coping against those with fashion beyond this age mostly impresses the worst people.

you should have refined your taste by this age anyway to feel comfortable enough to dress like a cartoon character with multiple pairs of the same type of clothes. not literally but close enough.
