Starvation mode is total meme and barely exists, the people in the Minnesota starvation experiment who experienced true very low bodyfat% starvation only had a BMR slow down of ~200kcal/day, which was like ~10-15%

harder as in hunger wise, there's a few reasons for this but one of the main ones is that the fat on your body secretes a hormone called leptin, this hormone suppresses appetite, therefore as you lose fat, you'll have lower levels of leptin and a greater appetite.

It gets even worse though, as there's something called "leptin resistance" (which is exactly what it sounds like), nearly everyone who gets obese at one point in their life will develop leptin resistance and thus will be more sensitive to hunger than people who've never been obese until their leptin resistance is reversed. This is one of the many reasons why a lot of former fatties end up gaining a lot of it back. IIRC Leptin resistance slowly gets reversed if someone doesn't gain a significant amount of fat for several years after initially losing fat.

So yeah, it'll get harder, but I did it, and so can everyone else if they know what to expect!

I weighed myself at 99lbs the other day, but the day before I was at 106 so I must be sitting naturally at like 102-103ish. 100 has been my goal weight for a while but my body doesn't look the way I want so I guess I'll keep losing.

I live in one of the fattest cities in the country. A TV show made a joke about my city and it was literally just about how fat my city is. Ppl are pretty fuckin fat, but it's easy to get that way without a lot of control. Incredibly cheap buffets (unlimited pizza for 5 bucks), fast food everywhere, very hot weather that makes it impossible for the average person to go outside and be active without getting quickly exhausted from the heat.
I can't say that I really notice a lot of fat people, but I think that might just be because fat people aren't usually the ones who are going out into public for recreation. I do see them in places like the grocery store, but not so much the outdoor mall. I'm also pretty used to seeing bigger people, in every single group I associate with there's at least one obese person.
BUT, I can't say that my city's fatness is really something we all look at positively, there's been a lot of push to make our people healthier from the city, and we've gone down in rank by fatness by like 15 places I think. these comments are hilarious. torturing yourself with forced calorie restrictions; the problem is most of you trying want to become skinny and thin, but you should view the solution from a different angle. first of, there are 3 body types per ayurveda: vata, pitta and kapha, former the skinny type, latter the stronger build. the initial lottery is already determined here how easy or hard will your progress be, no way around it. you guys/gals should focus on healthy foods, intermittent fasting without overeating (at least 16 hours between meals), regular high intensity practice like cardio and meditation. for a diet, try either carb or keto, but it depends on your body. trial and error required. (when i say carbs, only fruits and plants, none of those cereals packaged and marketed as healthy)

it's like growing flowers; you want the damn flower, but instead you have to take care of the soil, water, sun, fertilizer. if you properly manage those things, flower will happen by itself. it's the same thing with getting in shape you want, don't focus on the goal and take care of the basics. calorie restriction is a meme, because bodies absorb nutrients differently due to various factors, like gut bacteria, etc. good luck anons

Let me give you some real fucking advice because this thread is horrible

If you're going to deficit to less than 50% of your TDEE, you might as well just fast, eating "an egg + PB + banana" is just going to break your body out of fasting mode and make the hunger much worse than if you just fast and let your body go into fasting induced ketosis.

For weightloss water fasting, green tea is absolutely acceptable and even recommended, there's some science indicating that green tea allows you to burn your own fat for energy more effectively, which is exactly what you'll be doing during a water fast, plus green tea lowers cortisol, which directly counters one of the worst side effects of fasting, stress. Finally, green tea also gives you a smooth caffine hit which counteracts both the hunger and tiredness that comes with intense calorie restriction.

Expect to see some changes every 7 days at 23 BMI with water fasting.

Don't be afraid to do staggered fasting, I did alternate day fasting (fast day -> eat at maintenance day -> fast day repeat) for two months to hit my gw, alternatively you can do two fast days and one refeed day and so on. As you get used to fasting it'll become easier, but after a while you'll get thin enough that fasting starts becoming harder again.

Would really recommend a L-Tyrosine, Caffeine, and L-Theanine stack. Tyrosine has made me forget to eat while at work yet still keeping energized and could be used by people trying to lose weight in this thread. I'd recommend 500mg-1000mg and 100mg caffeine. Basically snake juice is an electrolyte drink, if you fast for a long time (3+ days) you're going to eventually urinate out all of your electrolytes and be left with headaches, cramps, tiredness, awful water retention, heart palpatations and all sorts of other nasties

I forgot the exact recipe, but IIRC it's basically a bottle of water with half a teaspoon of salt (preferably sea salt or pink salt) + a teaspoon of loSalt (potassium salt) + a teaspoon of food grade Epsom magnesium salt, the salt and the loSalt are the important parts, you can also use noSalt and adjust the ratio of potassium to sodium to your liking, magnesium defiency is rare if you get adequte sodium, but it doesn't hurt.

I really recommend checking out /fit/fast/, it's a suprisingly helpful general and they'll know more than I do
