wearing BdC EDP today
Is there any Tom Ford frag that really blew your mind?
The first time I tried Aventus, I had asked my gf to pick me up a perfume (hinted at BdC Parfum) at the airport on her way back from a work trip.
On a lark I asked her to check out this Creed Aventus thing and let me know what she thought.
She liked it so much that she ended up splurging and getting that for me instead.
I had the same reaction she did. First impressions were "this is not what I expected" but after a few hours when the musk kicks in, I fell in love with that frag.
It projects like a motherfucker too. BdC is nice but it's very close to the body.
tl;dr on this blog post: Creed Aventus legit surprised me in how good it was.
Anyone here have something so good that it outperformed expectations?
Anything from Frederic Malle or Tom Ford?

Kourosposter left because a couple of faggots picked up the Kouros thing and really ran with it, spamming threads with Kouros shitposts, insulting people that posted anything other than Kouros, etc.

I’ve said it before, but we have a big issue with “flavor of the month” here. Someone will force a new meme frag, everyone will jump on the bandwagon, people run out and buy it en masse because it’s being shilled, then people get sick of it, and then people turn on it. It’s fucking annoying, and I don’t blame Kourosposter for leaving.

No. We don’t need more thread “personalities”. That’s how generals die. You get some regulars who developed a sort of identity organically (ie. hookerfag), then newfags come along, see these personalities and decide they want in on that action, and suddenly everyone and their dog are trying to force their own gimmick and the thread becomes nothing but dipshits sniffing their own farts until the regulars eventually get sick of it and leave. I’m an MMA fan and used to love /heem/ threads on /sp/ during cards, but now it’s just autism, shitposting, and “personalities” jerking each other off. Nope, not me. Looks like MDCI anon.

I dress kinda shit most of the time to be honest. Usually if I’m just around the neighbourhood going grocery shopping or going to the bank or whatever, I often just wear sweat pants and a t shirt because I can’t be bothered actually getting dressed and shit’s comfy. Usually just a simple jeans and button down shirt outfit if I’m actually going somewhere. I’m not really /fa/ aside from frags. Just can’t be bothered with it.

Not really corporate. I’m one of the owners of my family’s property management company. I own one-third. Basically, I get an owner’s salary plus dividends, and I give about half my money to a cousin of mine who’s an investment banker to invest for me. Pretty good gig overall, I’d recommend it.

Yeah, it’s interesting how different people arrive at this hobby in very different ways. For some, it’s an extension of their fashion sense, fragrance is an accessory to them. Some do it for >compliments, or because they think it’ll get them laid.

Personally, I’ve been cooking my entire life and am also into bartending and mixology, so I’ve always been pretty sensitive to tastes and smells. I was in Vegas with a buddy of mine years back, we were at the boutique in Caesars and there was a store he wanted to go into. I think it was a Burberry store. Anyway, they had a new fragrance that they were trying to push and the saleslady got us to sample it. I enjoyed it, and kind of got curious about fragrances as a whole. Bought a few popular designer frags that I’d seen people saying online were good. Can’t remember what my first bottle was. Might’ve been ADG.

Got back home and I was at my gym (I used to do Muay Thai), and my instructor and I got to talking about frags, turns out he was a huge fraghead and told me about one of his favorite Creed frags (I think it was Himalaya), and that kinda got me into sampling entry-level niche frags, Creed, Amouage, Tom Ford, etc. Just fell in love with them. From there, of course, you only sink deeper into the niche autism. You know how it goes.

Read an anons post above about disliking "personalities". Not trying to bother anyone I just like leaving my personality signature on my reviews. Its nice knowing there are regulars who appreciate it. Its good to share weird frags too and this board needs more of that from everyone. Lots to try and sample out there. Onto the review:

Slumberhouse Baque- Immediately blasted by the apricot. It is a ripe juicy almost over-ripe fruit. If you have smelled bat its like the super ripe banana ripe-ness. It is kind of a stewed smell as well similar to the date note in camel. The date note in camel is the closest thing I have ever smelled to this apricot note. Really succulent. The tobacco comes in shortly after. It isnt a green tobacco and it isnt a dusty brown tobacco. Its a middle ground refusing to take sides. The fruit and tobacco do this awesome fucking thing together and bring this frag boozy. It smells like a strong cocktail like a Manhattan as one fragrantica poster said and that is spot on. This is what jazz club wishes it was, its exactly what it could have been. Smokey boozy but an intoxicating sweetness in it. Ambergris adds some richness and vanilla enhances all the notes. This is similar to tobacco vanille to my nose as well. Better in my opinion. The artemesia note is badass because its the same note in Nasomatto Absinth and as nasomatto shill I get rock hard over that. There is that fizzy green note that is so nice in absinth. Not many will pick it up unless they have smelled it before. Beast mode projection this is thick stuff. Really strong but not quite honey aoud chemical weapon tier. Dont sleep on this slumberhouse fans. I have a video up as well if any were curious. Basically a rehash longer version of this. I always keep my points congruent between video and post.

Thoughts on D.S & Durga Debaser? Is there anything as similarly easy on the nose as a green scent? I like how it's not too sharp and mellows to a creaminess in the dry down whilst retaining that distinct greenery smell. I have just tested a bunch of designer frags at the Sephora. My aim was to find a decent summery fragrance for the other hemisphere.

>Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau
This was a huge letdown for me. I have tested it previously on a tester strip and it smelled completely different. Back then it was a sweet, soapery coconut with a vanillay Tonka bean note. On skin the coconut note is still there, but it ends extremely harshest, leaving a bitter smell. If by “bergamot on the top note” they meant a week old slice of bergamot left on the fridge after the coconut, I guess they are right, because I couldn’t get any of it on the opening. After this extremely harsh break of the coconut note, the unremarkable tonka comes in. We will see if it improves as time goes on, because this (30-40 minutes after spraying) is just disappointing.

I hear the same things everywhere about our personality type, look up 'intp' on castbox, I forget the guys name but he has a podcast dedicated to intps struggles.
Personally, I think most of us are just extroverts with dormant mental health issues and our personalities are a symptom rather than the cause of our problems. Everyone says the same things, queried bipolar disorder, minor depression and anxiety. It just feels like everything lines up too well to just be a personality type as opposed to a mental health issue.
That's my two cents, id be interested in what you think if you're interested.

Having mood swings does not equal being bipolar. The vast majority of people experience that. Even having constant mood swings does not qualify as bipolar nowadays, as there are several other types that can explain that, such as schizoid personality disorder.
Also, all this talk of INTP and the likes is quite literally astrology for men. None of this is real. At best you have a point on:
>I think most of us are just extroverts with dormant mental health issues and our personalities are a symptom rather than the cause of our problems
As some of the traits associated with the questions posed in order to compile the personality type may correlate with the symptoms of an actual mental disorder, but this does not mean that the other systematic implications of such system are actually of any worth to clinical psychology.

Well put, I had previously been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and I understand that most of what is said about mbti personality types is a load of cock, but I think it's fun to look at the types and try to draw comparisons and similarities between them, however pointless. I find the horoscopes for men thing hilarious, I'm gonna steal that.

>Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense Pour Homme
Delicious! The entire experience of this fragrance can be described as eating a tangerine under the shadow of a palm tree in a deserted south american atlantic beach. The openin is as you just strike your knife through the orange in order to cut it in half, and its peel gives it's caracteristic sharp scent, impregnating the surroundings.
After a while the sea salt kicks in and it reminds you of eating the tangerine while gazing upon the ocean on a hot sunny day.
As the mandarine fades, the musk and the juniper take it's place giving the impression that you have just finished eating the orange and it's remains lie on a plate by a table to your side while you admire the ocean while being surrounded by the coastal flora.
Did not get any grapefruit at all and the amberwood note is very subtle, barely noticeable and only after the mandarine is gone

Wholly unremarkable. The opening is pretty much the lemon with a very medicine-like sage. After that, all i can get is the ambroxan with the patchouli. Cocoa? Leather? Pink pepper? Did not get any of that at all. The vetiver is also almost indistinguishable, it may even be my mind playing tricks on me in order to notice it.
The only similarity i see with Sauvage is it's ambroxan-heavy drydown, but i would say that it is not a fair comparison, as the ambroxan is present on sauvage straight from the opening, while on this one it only kicks in later. Sauvage's drydown is also much better.
I still haven't sampled Aventus, but is this is a faithful clone of it, i am not impressed. As people have described Aventus and according to it's note breakdown, i do not think that this is a clone of it. It lacks any freshness on it's opening and it's drydown is just boring. I can imagine a livelier version of MBE being quite good, so if Aventus is that, it is probably alright
The only "adventure" i get on this one is having to leave the commercial airplane at Kennedy International Airport, going down the shitty stairs and waiting for the bus to come because the fingers are broken again. Projection is also very low, where all other fragrances i talk about are average.

Coco Mademoiselle is notorious for being an ambitious mix of feminine and masculine notes in order to create a unique blend. However, this is a very popular fragrance, so it has already been stabilished as a wholly femine scent, even if people don't associate the scent with a name.
The only fragrance i would share with a female would be quite a bit more than $50, though, and that would be Velvet Orchid by Tom Ford. All of the other ones i would either seize entirely for myself or completely give it away to them.

The best bergamot i have smelled on a designer fragrance. Feels exactly like a bergamot split in half in front of you, lying on a wooden board on top of a table, with the orange tree still in sight. There is also a very faint musk added in to make the scent smoother.
I can definitely see why people love this one, although i particularly prefer light blue for casual summery occasions and other fragrances for formal occasions. This can be used in sping and fall as well, what cannot be said for light blue.
Very good.

It has a lot of notes that I like. I think I'm going to cop it for her because it's only $38 on ebay but she'll be impressed because it's a Chanel perfume. She wears the fuck out of this body spray called "Twilight Mist" by Body Fantasies, and it's an absolute Stacy miasma. I hope I can turn her to something less Stacy.

It's alright. I would never wear this as there are more interesting alternatives, but it is just fine. It actually has grapefruit, something which i never smell on fragrances that supposedly have it on their note composition, and its mix with lemon is kinda nice. 3 hours in and i only get those, ginger, jasmine and a bit of pepper. Black pepper, not pink as it is supposed to have.
As a side note, it has a terrible opening, smelling completely synthetic, but it does get better after a while. It is also a very abstract fragrance, it does not invoke any emotions or a scene to me.
