So I got my oak street lake shores in. I don't think the quality is all that bad looking, but I would have expected a bit more given the price. Otherwise leather feels nice and thick, danite sole, feels a bit tight in the width but my understanding is that cxl stretches a lot.

However -- I'm thinking of seeing if I can return them because while I like the overall shape of it, I think the captoe is in a weird spot. Was thinking of getting their trench boot instead if they'll let me exchange it. What say you, /fa/? Will post pics.

I saw a video where a guy suggested breaking-in boots by this method:
*heat them up with a fan heater, just to get the leather warm
*rub in a fuck load of mink oil into the outside and maybe the inside too
*wear the boots and keep applying the oil
The "mink oil liquid" he used is neatsfoot oil, lanolin, silicon, mink oil.
I don't want to use actual mink oil. I'm thinking about getting neatsfoot oil, lanolin and macadamia nut oil and blending those together and using that. Supposedly macadamia and sea buckthorne have some acid in them which is an important part of mink oil.

putting boots near heat is supposed to be a bad idea and make them shrink.
But the oil is a good idea if you don't mind the boots getting darker. Oil just softens the leather like lotion with skin. the leather being softer means that it will bend easier and there won't be as much pain when you're breaking them in.

Thoughts on RW Classic Moc? Wanted a pair of RWs and settled on these but now am having cold feet. They looked a little darker in the store, but are these too light? Possibly too bulky?

Im looking for a pair of boots to wear to my office job and if possible something I can wear when I go out with friends. I looked at Doc Martens but people recommended Solovair because they are closer to the original Doc Martens. Does anyone have any experience with this brand? Im looking at the Black Hi-Shine 8 Eye Derby Boot in particular.

I usually wear chinos and a polo to work with dress shoes. I live in Canada but I dont need them to be outdoor boots or shoveling boots.

Maybe... Might be a little higher of a crease though.

I actually tried them on today and I don't think I mind them, but they seem pretty cramped compared to the trench boot. Not sure if that is something that will get better with time or not, but they do have a nice profile. Plenty of length, but you can see the top is kind of scrunched.

Alright so I figured out why I'm finding these uncomfortable... this spot right here. Almost no room.

Is this a part I would expect to stretch out and get comfortable? Feel like I'm still breaking in my other boots so not really sure what I'm looking for. I have flat feet but it feels like my instep is tall. Lengthwise I feel fine, feel like going up a half size may not be the best choice. Been measured as an 8 on a brannock

I actually bought them because I moved to a town with lots of rain. When I saw that rainboots actually cost in the 100s of dollars i said fuck that, if I'm going to be spending that much money it'll be on something I actually like. I bought blundstone chisel toes and wore them through rain and all winter. they held up well. They were fine in snow.

The only problem I had was that when they got lots of rain on them my socks would get damp at the creases of the boot where my toes bend. But I never put any water repellant or conditioner or anything on them. that probably would have helped. I actually didn't do anything at all to them for a whole year aside from wiping them down with a paper towel once or twice.

I'm definitely glad I got them and have to say they're my favorite footwear I've ever owned, and my most worn. I'm actually trying to buy another pair of boots now because I realized they were almost the only thing I wear. Really comfortable and so easy to pull on and off.

So I just got my first pair of chromexcel boots. Leather seems pretty nice, but should I hit it with any conditioner before I start wearing them? Lot of people say these tend to not need nearly as much and I'm inclined to believe it since they seem pretty nice... But not sure how often cxl really needs it.

Just bought a pair in leather. Kinda wish there was a brown suede option available at the vendor.

Anyhow, after two days, they’re mostly broken in and comfy as hell, especially in the heel strike. I love these.

I have owned a pair of CXL boots and done nothing but wipe them off when they're dirty and brush them and they've been totally fine. CXL is tough as fuck (except the finish, the actual hide is bullet proof) and really doesn't need much if any care for a long time. Just brush and wipe as needed.
