Hey lads, this is my current collection and I'm contemplating selling off a few of my pieces that it would be worth it to do so (NTH, Steinhart etc) It would mainly be because I know I want to eventually replace these watches in my collection with watches from IWC, Breitling, Rolex etc.

I start work in finance next year and am currently planning on just keeping and enjoying my current collection until I can afford to add new pieces, but yeah I could also liquidate some although I am not in desperate need of cash.
Let me know what you think :)

For the moment enjoy all of them, rotate as much as you can and try to get out of your comfort zone with all of them so you really know how versatile every piece is and how they make you feel.
Spend a year or two saving money for more important stuff
Then start selling everything but the PO, the f91-w and the khaki. Maybe keep an orient or the other Casio if they have special meaning for you. The rest must go.
Then with your saving and the recently added funds from the sales you can start looking for new watches.
You'll have a dive a beater and a tool watch in your box, I'd look for a dress watch or a chrono (or a dressy vintage chrono)
The max bill chronoscope is hated here but it'd make an awesome addition to your collection. A vintage golden Leonidas with venus movement could also be an interesting piece

Especially designated as involving the possibility of misleading general consumers is representations

the violations. In many cases, representations is regulated under other relevant laws such as the Food
Sanitation Act, the Household Goods Quality Labeling Act and, as necessary, detailed regulations such
as fair competition code for individual products or industries.
Under the Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations, the examples below
are considered misleading representations.
Ex.: Apparel products sewed in China of Japanese material may not be labeled "Made in Japan"
(such products may be labeled "Made in China of Japan fabric").
Labeling that could cause consumers to imagine a product was produced in a country other than its

I don't get the point of that brand, just get a real Rolex, you'll avoid the "couldn't afford a Rolex m8?" comments, and it will look better too. It's just a way to still Jew money out of people who either can't afford to buy enough watches to get on the Rolex waiting list or can't afford the watch in the first place.

if you want to consider mecaquartz watches, you'll have a bunch more options at around 100-200 bucks

seiko makes a bunch of mecaquartz chronos, and all of the microbrands with chrono complications are going to be powered by the same seiko movement. the seiko mecaquartz watches actually have surprisingly good haptics, the pushers feel good, they reset cleanly with a flyback motion, etc.

Japan makes the only good watches relative to their cost, and i do not like to say that as i dislike weebs. You're falling for marketing if you think swiss/german watches are actually worthwhile. SSB is the model code (e.g. SSB003, SSB031, etc., there's probably like a million of them). The movement that powers them is the 6T63. This movement is also known as the VK63, or VK67, or VK83 depending on subdial placement and chrono function. Here's a quick intro on the movement.

http://calibercorner.com/what-is-a-meca-quartz-movement/

It's pretty much the only popular mecaquartz movement, because it actually does a reasonable job of mimicking mechanical chrono action. Hence, you get a fuckton of microbrands like Undone and Autodromo and others using it.

The 1963, from what I've heard, is a pretty solid watch. I don't have any firsthand experience with it, though, because I'm not crazy about the looks.

You could also take a look at Poljot, both the Aviator and the Strela. Those are powered by a movement that's pretty much just a slavshit clone of the old Valjoux, so they're pretty solid. Poljots used to be like $300, but I'm afraid they're more like $500 now.

The Panerai isn't really appropriate though, I need something with clearer markings for the GMT hand.

>>14808459
There's actually a huge pilot shortage going on, the market is the opposite of saturated. Basically the market WAS saturated to hell for decades and so barely anybody went into flying, and now all those old pilots are being forced to retire (65 is the limit for airlines) and there's not enough people to replace them. Even the regional and low-cost airline situation has changed massively in the last few years, pay at them has gone from absolute shit, like 30k, to a respectable 65k+ for first officers.

I don't think the Citizen there would really suit me, it'd look ridiculously tiny on me (I have decent-sized wrists, a 40mm looks dressy on me and a 46 is only slightly oversized) and I think the little digital display would be too small to read easily.

Maybe I'll try looking around at some of the local discount clothing places like TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack, I've seen some pretty good deals on Tissot and Hamilton ana-digis at those stores and some of those models are decent looking. If not I guess I'll probably just get pic related but I'm not in love with it.

You have springbars already, otherwise your current strap wouldn't stay on.

Nato on these curved watches doesn't sit well unless you have specific adapters for specific models like 5600/5000 series gshocks that have plenty of strap adapters. If you're going to stretch the strap it's going to sit very high.

I'd get a black 2 piece 20mm nato/nylon strap and cut down the ends to fit in the 17mm lugs but do whatever you like.

You should really be looking at an Omega, the newer 8xxx movements have 15k Gauss antimagnetic, so it's really A magnet. I never see other pilots wearing modern Rolex.

>Get F-91W
>On 5th hole from the edge is too tight
>On 4th the watch spins around my wrist
What the fuck do I do, brehs. I'm tempted to gaffertape some padding onto it but it'll look ridiculous.

You can find NOS Ikepods chronos for ~2500. They’re 39mm and wear small due to the case shape.

How sticc is your wrist, famalam? The watch has seen better days, thats for sure, but 200 is not that much if you know someone who can maintain it. Got a movement shot?

Are the cases of these things really made in China?

Was choosing between the Stowa Verus klassik (new) or a grand seiko 6146 (over on the bay) - relatively the same price. The Seiko was bought by someone else; so im now really serious with buying a Stowa.

Either that or a vintage seamaster/geneve.

I have a similar wrist shape, it looks the worst from the top (or your point of view). Look at it in a mirror, from the front, and you'll find that the size is passable.

Does anyone know if it's possible to repair and transform an old pocket watch into a wrist watch?

I have a pocket watch that used to belong to my great-grandfather, it's in a bad shape and, according to the internet, it was a shitter even back in his days, but I would still like to restore it and ideally wear it myself.

the only watch company i think might actually do EVERYTHING in house is Vostok (but then that would be 2nd world).

as i said, doesn't exist and certainly not for $500.

I doubt that Vostock is fully made in Russia.

i would bet that they are, considering that the machinery is all left over from soviet times.

the only exception would probably be the jewels (but i don't think even patek do that).

Ask a jeweler if he can weld some lugs to it and restore. If it's too big it will look silly on you so just wear it as a pocket watch an don't disgrace your gran gran with some huge, clown abomination on your wrist.
