Friendly reminder for new posters joining our general, Seiko watches are overpriced shitters with terrible QC and are shilled by people who don't know any better. The brand has been cashing in on their name and recognition for the past decade, using it as an excuse for poor quality and QC, and hasn't released a watch worth buying at the price in forever.

Last request got buried in the last thread, reposting:

Need a watch that wouldn't be afraid of sand and salty sea water (so I don't need to clean it after swimming) and would look acceptable to wear with swimming shorts at the beach or wearing my everyday singlet, shorts and flip flops.

I already have a classic F-91W that I use for my work everyday and it is all covered in dust and sweat so I don't want to wear it after work.
Thinking to buy a silver F-91W for my everyday needs but it just looks too retro and is probably not salt-water proof.
Maybe just all black would be better so it wouldn't attract so much attention.
Want it to be as slim as possible, so probably digital preferred.

Saltwater (Or salt for the matter) corrodes all types of regular seals and gaskets, and the solution is to just simply rinse it in water while washing hands or etc.

5000 or 5600 series G-shock, or some other decently waterproof digital from Casio if you really want digital, or just any regular diver like the Citizen BN0150, NY0040 and plenty of other divers.

ok, and in your opinion what are some budget automatic options apart from Seiko and Orient? Can't think of anything besides some Russian brands like Vostok or Sturmanskie. Maybe something Chinese?

Personally, I can't think of anything better for less than 200 USD than Seiko. That's dirt cheap level, you'd have trouble buying a nice quality strap for that money. I got an SKX007 some time ago and can't complain much. Many major brands nowadays have some quality control issues. A few years later I got an Omega Speedmaster MothM and after returning it for warranty service work in official Omega central, I got it back with stopwatch stopping each time the second hand tried to pass a certain point. This means that the official Omega watchmaker didn't even bother checking the correct operation of the watch after putting it all together. An independent watchmaker I know says that the quality control issues are common here. The same applies to other mass-produced watches, like Tag Heuer.

I wouldn't go that far, but it does seem that the collective of watch enthusiasts have smaller wrists than the average male. My wrist is just over 7" circumference, so about average, but flat shaped as opposed to round so it looks larger than it is. My point is, this watch is 50mm lug to lug, which is considered massive in the watch world, but it should be wearable for a little less than half of men

"Research suggests that sperm counts have dropped by half in the last 50 years or so and that a higher percentage are poor swimmers – slow, ungainly or beset by genetic flaws. The exact cause of that decline is not well understood. ... But many researchers suspect chemical residues in the environment may be partly to blame."

The same men who produced twice as much sperm when they ejaculated 50 years ago(and it was stronger, healthier sperm as well) also proudly wore smol 34mm watches.
Modern watch collecting really is a coping mechanism for cucks with a low sperm count.

$150 for the no date version but I paid like $20 extra for S&H. This is still a pretty good deal considering everywhere else you won't see a Marathon for under $200 except for their non-tritium Maraglo models which cost as much. Tritium, Swiss quartz movement, legit military brand. Acrylic bezel is pretty much shatterproof, but it scratches kinda easy. Scratches come off easy with polywatch though. 12hr rotating bezel is cool too.
I grabbed a black no-date a few months back and I love the thing enough it's become my everyday watch. Worst thing about it is the shit water resistance - only 30m - so I don't wear it when showering.

Is this something recent or common in the older ones? since i've never heard that before nor experienced it any of the 4 82XX cals i've had.

No it's called physics. Look at the rotor and see how hard it banks when going in the opposite direction, and how much stress it puts on the clutch when winding in the "right" direction.
The fucking slavs figured out bi-directional winding in the 60's (with an excellent design actually), there's no excuse for this.

Again, i can't seem to find anything on this except the fact that the rotor is incredible audible nor have i seen an autowind assembly break entirely except on a Raketa 2427.

>hondinkee faggots hyping up le mecaquartz as some amazing movement
>microbrands treat it as some kind of high piece of technology
>highest totlizer offered is only an hour even though the best thing about quartz chronos is being able to run for a long time without worrying about wear
>completely non-jewled even though it would only cost a few extra bucks to make the movement a lot more reliable
>chrono hand has to be fucking friction fit because it's not a real cannon pinion, even though they could have just notched it
>reset lever torque constantly overcomes the friction holding the chronohand in place making it fall out of aligment
>unlike other quartz chronos there's no way to reset it, you literally have to take the watch apart and move it back in place, which can probably only be done a few times before the hand starts sitting too loose on the pinion.
Why the FUCK do you faggots worship these retards again?
I bought 3 chink shitters with the VK movement, they better be reliable because the design is fucking abysmal.

The alternative is the st19 which is a fucking fragile movement, or save up +1000/2000 usd money, some people just aren't comfortable blowing over 300 usd on a wristwatch.

The new Strelas (40mm,ST1901) are 360eurokekels on their site, while you can still get the 3133 Strelas on fleabay for about 600$. Which is annoying sure since no other non chink chronograph is out there for so cheap, but understandable as the 3133 is out of production for almost a decade.

Im not sure what you want to hear, watches with a domed crystal arent a subcategory like divers, pilots, chronos, fields, dress etc. Either they have it or they dont. Also the angle of the dome depends heavily on the type, the Sinn I posted has an extreme arc, while others are more subtle.
