Natural colored ears/tails look just as autismo as hyper neon ones if you're wearing them outside of conventions. It's really the same as someone casually wearing a naruto headband or jacket. You might be able to kind of get away with wearing them this time of year, but after that, regular people will make assumptions and think you're showing off your fetish.

In the late 90s happened with SM gear. It became fashion (which completely alienated its original followers, via posers), and never really went away. Anytime a designer or a specific culture needs a shock of "lust", "prohibited", "dark", etc, they might go to the SM signifier.

We just don't know yet which kind of meaning will furry have for fashion. In due time future edgy hipsters will repurpose it for their given context and its life in mainstream fashion will begin. It might be faster than expected.
