I think addiction is kind of exaggerated but I do think about it when I'm not smoking during the week. I only smoke on nights out but that's because I can't stay in clubs for too long without feeling claustrophobic so it's an excuse to stand outside and get some fresh air without looking weird or out of place

Then they buy themselves a 10 pack instead of bumming smokes off others at the party. Smoke a few, have it laying around the house untill they smoke one one evening a month after. Then they smoke a few more the following month. Then they buy another pack because they like that late night smoke once in a while before they go to bed or after dinner.
They smoke one when they wake up and then they smoke one after lunch. Then they smoke one when they're waiting for the buss. Suddenly the the pack is empty and they think nothing more of it.

Then one day they see a smoker on the train platform and asks if they can bum a smoke, because they feel like it. It's not like they're going to buy another pack anyway.

Then they buy another pack and smoke one when they feel a bit stressed out, chuck the pack in the dresser and think they wont pick it up again.

Then suddenly they get the crawing. The crawing that sneaks up on you. The crawing when you've just eaten, the crawing when you've just woken up, the crawing when you cant sleep at night, the crawing after sex or a wank. 1 more wont hurt. I am in control, I can quit whenever I want, I can just stop buying cigarettes.

And 10 years later you cant kick the habit because almost all of your daily routine revolves around having a cig every 1 or 2 hours and the only time you really get a peace of mind is sitting on your porch or balcony with a cigarette in your hand.

And that is the story of every smoker ever. They all started out like you.
