I've been doing no-poo for a couple years. I don't use anything except water, finger massage my scalp in the shower, and boar bristle brush it when it's dry. I get white flakes in my hair sometimes. I tried nopoo with just water for a few months, but using an egg yolk is actually very effective. The same way egg yolk binds with oil to make mayo it will bind to the oil in your hair to clean it. Separate the yolk from the white and mix with a little water, just make sure not to rinse with warm/hot water or you’ll cook it into your hair. Not good to rinse your hair in hot water anyways. Rye flour also works

Ok there are probably a few reasons for this hopefully I can help you out.

First of all, doctor your shampoo up. Dilute it with water and add a small amount of olive oil to it. The problem with shampoos off the shelf is they tend to be way too harsh and strip too much oil. You can counteract this by watering it down a little(about 1/8 a cup for every 8 fl oz, maybe more depending on how harsh the shampoo in question is) and adding in some oil(about 1-2 tablespoons for every 8 fl oz). It will still clean, it just won't completely strip your hair of oil. Adding gelatin to it will not help with shine, but the amino acids found in collagen peptides share many of the amino acids found in keratin. This will reinforce your hair to make it stronger and less prone to breakage and stress. Hair is not bioactive, you have to help it out by adding shit back into it, like oil and fatty acids. Your sebaceous glands are under active by the sounds especially when your hair is still on the dry side despite nopoo, usually your own natural oils keep hair healthy and balanced by delivering moisture, oil, wax esters, acids, etc to it, so give it a little help.

Second of all, one of the reasons your hair lacks shine is probably because its PH is off balance. Your water is likely on the basic side of the scale. Rinse with a diluted apple cidar vinegar or boost a conditioner with ACV and use that. When hair is on the acidic side it helps to keep cuticles flat, making it shiny and smooth. It could also be a sign that your hair just lacks oils to keep moisture locked in and also helps to keep cuticles flat. Try adding a little bit of oil to it when its wet/damp to help lock in moisture.

Thirdly, your own comb may be damaging your hair. Switch to a wooden or horn comb. They conduct very little static compared to plastic combs and are far more gentle on hair.

And finally, try a conditioning therapy session for your hair. >>14671986 is actually on point. Try it.

And as for conditioner suggestions it really depends. As always, I recommend pura d'ors products. I find their lavender/vanilla conditioner to be a great bang for the buck product, its about $15 for 16 fl oz. I do find that on the pricey side because I am a frugal person, but considering the ingredients and results its really good imo and I have been very happy with it. Never use conditioners with silicone, silicone will ruin your hair over time.

Thanks, I think it looks good too I am pretty proud of it. But I will not know how effective it is yet. First I need to test it out tomorrow to make sure it doesn't leave my hair greasy and then I gotta make sure the emulsion was a success, that it stays stable. I have slavic hair (Polish). It's very think but I have A LOT of it. I can't work out a good cut. Proper long hair like Kurt Cobain or something like that looks like shit because of how thin my hair is. It worked pretty damn good, but it is something you have to be careful with because its not nearly as watered down as store hair conditioners so a little bit goes a long way. Had a good slip, hair was well moisturized when dried and had a nice shine. All in all successful witches brew was successful.

I got a haircut from a barber recently and got a classic side part/combover with a medium fade or something(I don't know the lingo very well). Anyway, Is it normal that the side that I part from is ridiculously longer than the other? Like if I were to part the opposite way the hair would hang over down to my ear like Donald Trump in the wind. I feel like the cut is excessively asymmetrical and I'm also having a real issue with my cowlick being a PIA. I think my part is on the wrong side and my barber cut my hair in a way that only allows one direction. Is this normal??

This is what I mean... The back of my head is always messy with my current part, But my haircut is specific to this part so I can't accurately visualize the alternative. This is my first and only barber and I came in with the part, I never knew about the cowlick rule or looked at the back of my own head until now. Yeah the front would probably look better with a cut made for that direction. I like the way I look now in the mirror but plenty of times I find longer hairs in the back have swept over to the wrong direction and look funny dangling over short hair. The cowlick really wants to pull the back in the other direction. Also the moustache is brand new lol, thought I'd get a head start on movember this year, it's my first time seeing it.

Well like 90% of people have their part on the right. It would be rare to grow the other way, that said I'm worried my front swoop will never be as good going that direction like this picture. Any tips on how to make my beard less wiry?

I've been growing out a short beard and while it looks alright, though quite thin, the hairs are tough and wiry as fuck and stick out in all sorts of ridiculous directions. I wash it once a week and comb it with oil daily, but I'm less inclined to trust all the other advice online telling me to buy shit.
