No, OP's shoes are stiff leather with no padding inside. The pair I got sqeak when I walk. The sole wore out before the leather broke in.

they seem pretty easy to stick a new sole on if you have some DIY spirit, any evidence to the contrary?

Indeed, I have taken my pair to the shore repair shop a few times.

I tried a lot of brands, famous and unfamous, finally onitsuka tiger (but also asics) and converse are the only brands I want to wear for sneakers.

I have the vickka, ptg and fabre and ultimate 81 from onitsuka,

I really like the design of the Mexico 66, however it seems a little fragile to me, especially the outsole and I don't want to spend money on a shoe that will fall apart after a short time,

can anybody tell me how lasting the Mexico 66 is?

I've had 3 pairs in my lifetime. Never had any problems with the body falling apart, but the sole is thin so you'll have to get new heels put on every now and then. I get new heels about every 6 months.
