Honestly it's more of a matter of insecurity.
Some girls want to appear as feminine as possible, and thus they dislike anything that can "out-female" them, or make their femininity appear diminished in comparison. That is why some girls dislike style choices that make males and females look more alike, because it makes them feel less pretty.

Ever heard a girl go "I don't care about his height he just needs to be taller than me in heels"?
or "His hair can be long but can't be longer than mine, or take more time to style than mine"
