Skater aesthetic usually settles around 2 main features i feel like, those being durability and comfort. Obviously skate brands play a role or whatever, but it’s mostly about being free to move around on your skateboard in pants that wont shred to shit if you bite it. Staples are:
>dickies, classically the 874 but i like the 873, i cuff mine three times
>shoelace belt, comfortable and cheap
>vans old skools, sk8 hi, slip ons, converse chuck 70’s, air force 1’s
>slightly oversized t-shirts, thrifted or if you’re a fag get them at zumies
>hoodies
>beanies, cuff them so they sit above your ears

this is a very trendy skater look, and every fucker in brooklyn looks like this

buy from your local skate shop if you have one, clothing too if you like their designs. my favorite brands are deathwish, zero, baker, bones, and spitfire. but i’m an edgy cunt. you’re legally not allowed to wear thrasher unless you’re good (when you can varial kickflip, boardslide, and drop in then you can wear thrasher, anon.)

some shit that i personally think looks sick (and is functional too) are bib overalls and coveralls. dickies makes both. i never got too into carhartt but everyone wears fucking carhartt beanies and the detroit jacket when it’s cold out

nike sb are good for skating, the vans originals wear through pretty quick and you end up having to shoe goo the shit out of them in a couple weeks of heavy skating, but the vans pros are decent. anything suede or with a toecap like chucks will last a decent while. vans waffle soles are nice and grippy though. i just like the way they look, and it’s what most people wear. Best skate shoes are the vans half cab imo but they’re fucking ugly.

I skate to work and spend a few hours at the park after work daily and wear cheap indigo jeans, plain single colour kmart t-shirt, white kmart crew socks and a cheap amazon canvas belt. Probably the most expensive thing I wear are my shoes, which are suede adidas campus ADV.

Do you skate? No? Don’t try to dress like a skater. If you intend to pick up skating as a lifestyle go ahead and find some comfortable dickies and hit up a thrift shop and pick up some loose tees and some beater shoes, preferably high tops (think like high af1s, shitty jordan fusions). If you’re like me and hate skating high tops you can look into just skating in some vans or converses if you’re poor. Pick up shoe goo, just do it. Hit up your local skate shop and park and shred.

If you don’t pussy out half a year in or so and you can shove it, ollie, and 180 congratulations you are a skater and can do whatever you want from there including wearing whatever skate gear that you want, although I would recommend staying away from Thrasher in general. If you are a pussy and don’t want to put in the work to earn the title as a skater then you can always go the “eboy” or “young artist/musician” aesthetic which is similar and will get you less shit, even if you are a poser.

I keep hearing skaters calling other people that dress like them posers but I think they don’t really understand that other people don’t really care about their opinions, different styles come from different places like musicians and movies.
Also skaters are usually linked to vandalism so some people probably will never adopt this style.
