I wore Breath of God from Lush again today. I’m still not sure how to feel about this stuff. I’ve decided I do like it overall, but it’s very weird stuff. The opening is a straight-up bonfire. Just tons of smoke. As it dries, though, you start to get the melon, as well as some spicy pepper, something menthol-ish, some dry woods, incense, and some other fruit and spice notes I can’t quite place.

It’s a surprisingly fresh scent for being so fruity and smoky. Very summer friendly, I’d say. Still, though... very strange scent.

Really cool 80's frag that's miscategorized everywhere as an aromatic fougere when it's actually a woody chypre. It's soapy in an industrial soap urinal puck type of smell that's similar to Kouros in the opening (no piss smell, just the soapiness) and while it does kind of resemble Irish Spring, there is a huge amount of eugenol (intense here to the point where it smells like it has a novocaine type of effect), aldehydes, pine, juniper, and fake oakmoss that comes off smelling like cigarette ash. Not much else that's this complex in it's price range. It's not a fougere :+)

I mean, yes and no. Fragrance is a form of fashion, and fashion can definitely be outdated. How many young people you see walking around in loafers, wool slacks, and suspenders nowadays? Same thing for fragrance, a fragrance can be dated, which leads to the “old person” association. That said, these things are often cyclical, so “dated” fragrances may very well be trendy again in a few years.

Bright Neroli is great for the price. I've been using it regularly through the recent heat wave together with Carven. If you like Neroli Portofino/Mugler Cologne you'll like this one.
L'Homme is very snice. This is my frag of choice when I need something as non-offensive as possible for some meetings. It does that job great and on top of that it's actually a very good masculine scent. Performance is average though. I get 3h out of it but again I'm fine with it as that fits the purpose.
>>14511340
They definitely don't care as much as people over internet try to make it. I've been literally complimented on my shoes/socks combo last night than on fragrances this week. I also feel like it's a bit cultural thing. In America girls were commenting on my frag way more often than in Europe.

Also, as somebody who has been on online dating sites for five years and only got as far as kissing one girl your escapades are making me envious. Well you don't have any fougeres other than Cool Water if you're into them, so something like Drakkar Noir or Kouros (even though its not so much a typical one and has chypre elements) could fill that niche. Also maybe look into Azzaro PH, it's argued by many to be the finest of that style, but idk if I agree completely.

Fahrenheit is it's own niche desu as it defies classification (Symrise classifies it as a fresh chypre but I don't get labdanum per say)

Chypre Palatin is amazing. Very complex and fucking well blended fragrance. You should definitely sample it. I was recommending fragrancehunter on eBay in last thread. I got my first sample from him.
Idk man, online dating is weird. for some reason I do well on it and the fact that I live in London/Cambs helps. Trying to make best out of it before I’ll reach 30. It’s fun but also wears off quite quickly. To be honest I had way more fun with pulling that Paki-Saudi hottie last night in a club than with the standard tinder one night stand. She was also very cheeky and wanted to make me jealous flirting with other guys there which was fun game to play with her. I guess I’m a hunter type of a guy. Also getting nudes is quite easy but you must have a right sexual vibe from message number 1. Most of guys write to girls like to some kind of princesses and that’s the mistake. I had a good laugh this morning with the girl from the club reading messages some guys wrote to her overnight.

I'm in my mid 20's, dress casual/smart casual most of the time with button up shirts, chinos or t shirts, hoodies with jackets and rings or a waistbag.

I guess it’s not in my nature to be upfront and sexual like that because I’m a bumbling autist that has been with a woman for 12 years so I wouldn’t know what I was doing. Oh boi, that's a long topic as I really think that dating in 21st century is fucked up. I think the problem with most of the guys is that they're too needy. Developing the abundance mentality over time was the biggest gamechanger for me. The less you care about them, the more they want you. The girl from the club was testing me for the whole last night if I will turn out to be her little bitch. These days with almost unlimited streams of attention from social media girls are getting really confused and intrigued if you're not one of the needy guys. My girlfriend is a fashion model and one of the biggest redpills for me was seeing her DMs on instagram. It's full of guys writing her polite or straight boring messages every single day trying to get in touch with her. And I don't mean here only stereotypical Indians asking for bobs and vagene pics but cool and attractive guys with thousands of followers too. Basically never be needy, always pull their leg, keep it lighthearted and banter over text and you'll be ahead of 99% of guys.

Not the dude you were responding to, but I agree. Dating is fucked today. I find it’s a bit better in some parts of Europe, or if you live in a more rural area, but in North America, if you live in a big city, it’s not even worth bothering with anymore in my opinion.

This is why I’m hookerfag. I go to events I want to go to, do stuff I want to do, just live my life, sometimes I meet girls there, sometimes we wind up dating for a bit or hooking up. I’m opportunistic. I don’t look for it, it happens organically or it doesn’t. I have my Amsterdam trips and I have a couple reliable agencies, so I’m not missing sex.

My theory, personally, and this also explains why it’s better in Europe, in my experience, is that it has to do with western prudishness when it comes to sex. Even after the sexual revolution, even with modern feminism, women are still afraid to be labeled sluts, so in order to avoid that, they expect you to “convince” them to fuck you. That way it shifts responsibility away from them, they’re not sluts, you just tricked them into doing it because you’re so suave and cool. This creates the situation where men now have to act like sleazy used car salesmen during dates, trying to “game” women. It’s all silly because we both ultimately want the same thing, namely sex and companionship, but because we’re too prudish, as a society, to just ask for what we want, we have to play all these silly games, and dating becomes antagonistic and combative, rather than cooperative and fun like it should be. Just my take on it, I could be wrong.

>Hooking up

>Girlfriend

What’s the deal there? Open relationship? No judgement or anything, just curious.

But yeah, I read Aziz Ansari’s book about dating and it articulated a lot of what I felt. The whole thing is so impossible for men that if they don’t make constant good impressions one slip up can cause the whole thing to fall to bits. There’s always the thought “This Guy is great, but maybe the next one is better” and nobody ever gets anywhere.

>> No.14512171

Yeah, this is true too. There very much seems to be a “what’ve you done for me lately?” aspect to dating now. Everyone’s so damned concerned with trying to find something better than what they have that they throw away good things. In my experience, this usually results in winding up with nothing at all at the end of the day.

Just another reason I see sex workers. It’s ironically less transactional than tinder/other dating sites, and it’s honest. I get sex, you get money, we’re both happy. Simple.

No deal really, I just really really like girls and my gf is sometimes on her modeling contracts for months so it's too much of a struggle to go with blue balls for me. I can't sometimes help my libido and want to sleep with almost every women I see. Above, below and at the same level as my gf, doesn't matter. Also young chicks are so much fun to be around. They start loosing this spark of being nonchalant, unconcern and spontaneous when they hit 25yo (I'm 26 and observe that with maany girls of my age). I think she suspects that I'm hooking up here and there but loves the fact that we're quite a power couple too much to face it. Also we were meeting very casually at the beginning and only eventually it all turned into a relationship, so I think it kinda set the vibe. I didn't propose to her yet or promised anything, so don't really feel too bad.
Also that's some looser mentality my dude. If you are willing to take on the challenge then rather read roosh instead.

So, why aren't there any succesful female frag reviewers?
Is it because inadvertly the craftmanship behind a fragrance is more akeen to male thought? Does the popularity of male reviewers relate to the simp epidemic where now more than ever guys are desperate for tail thus wanting to know of the latest pantydropper?
It seems that the most popular female frag reviewers are the overly sexualized like Demi Rawlings and Tiff Benson. Kinda interesting how females have to include sex in just about anything to become succesful. Also on a side note, I am sure that it's not just that they're mostly male viewers. Jeremy said in his latest video that his female viewership increased to 40% in the last couple of months - thus why we seen more female friendly content from him, even the underwear pool episode.

Curly Scents seems nice. I guess it’s mostly because men are more likely to want to watch videos about them, and women don’t buy men’s fragrances so it’s men making videos for other men. Women aren’t as nerdy as men, and it is a nerdy hobby in the same way whisky or beer can be. The only successful women are just thirst traps for men that read Fragrantica for five minutes and film their findings. Some men do that too, clearly.

Until recently, I thought Parfums Vintage Emperor was a good Aventus-like but not a great clone. I had been using my personal 2014 bottle of Aventus as a baseline for comparison, and Emperor packs too much dry birch and green fruit to stand in for that particular bottle. Emperor also lacks the prominent currant and vanilla that are characteristic of Aventus as I have always known it.
I recently ordered a fresh 2019 vintage flacon of Aventus and received it this week. Having tested modern, fresh Aventus for the first time in maybe ever, I have to say that Emperor EdP copies it more or less perfectly.
So what are the disadvantages of buying the top shelf clone (PV) over genuine Creed? Well, my previous Aventus flacons matured over time, developing more prominent vanilla and currant notes. I'm not sure Emperor will do the same as my bottle ages or whether it will continue to smell specifically like fresh, green Aventus. It'll be interesting to see. The other disadvantage that I see for PV is that it's really not much cheaper than genuine Aventus. Yeah $159 for the 100 mL EdP is a steep discount compared to $435 for a 100 mL bottle of Aventus at retail or even $295 on the gray market sites. But you can find 250 mL flacons from reputable sellers on eBay for around $400, which works out to exactly the same price per 100 mL as Emperor - $160.

My first impression was that it smelled like something a 50 year old woman might wear. Now that I'm used to the smell I enjoy it and wear it occasionally but I'll probably never finish my 100ml eBay tester bottle. I am new to frangrancs in general so I don't have a lot of experience and aquatic/fresh is probably a popular category.

One review on youtube mentioned the Oud is a weird mix to have with marine/aquatics. I personally don't feel its weird.

So I went to the boutique near my workplace yesterday looking for a new summer frag and asked if they had Guerlain Vetiver as I've seen it recommended before. The lady showed me instead Vetiver Frozen which smells nice but I have to wonder how do you guys think it fares against the classic Guerlain Vetiver? Also saw an L'eau Bleue D'issey at Ross, big 4.2 oz bottle for less than 30 bucks, is it worth it?

>does fragrance truly fucking matter
It's optional and a gamble. Body/hair/face/teeth is most important, then good fitting clothes. Fragrance can improve your attractiveness, but it can also hurt it if you fuck up or your fragrance doesnt match what others like. So wear it for yourself, get something you like because whatever you use there will be people who both like and dislike what you wear.

Of course wearing nothing is on the level of wearing a plain white t-shirt, simple jeans/pants, and basic sneakers with a basic haircut. Too much simplicity is boring, but too much eccentricity will get you laughed at. Balance is cliche but true.

>> No.14514733

>>14514679
I believe people are very sensitive to smells and just like the smell of sweaty armpits or smelly feet can make everyone around you avoid you so does a nice smell can make you just a little more pleasant to be around. A frag wont make you interesting or likeable on its own but should compliment your appearance and personality and will do wonders to your confidence.

As someone also fairly new to fragrances, I cannot stress enough how important it is that you sample everything first, ask for samples at your dept. store or buy some online whatever but never blind buy.

Other than that I guess start on the cheaper end of the spectrum because buying an 80$+ frag that ends up not having the effect you were looking for can really dissuade you from pursuing aromatic perfection.
As for a fragrance itself try maybe Versace Eros or Dylan Blue for the summer days or sample some and come back when you've found some notes you like.

London is a snice, extremely cosy crowdpleasing berry-tobacco scent. Women love it. I kinda grew out of it though. Keeping this bottle only to use it around the Christmas time tbf.

It's only as discerning as you are in your style selection. You choose the fragrance, you then make decisions in your Game. You engage Society.
Depending on how you then choose to play your Game, Society either: Rewards you, punishes you, or is largely indifferent.

iow, first ask: Does the Fragrance "work for me"?

Does it work in }this{ situation, or maybe {{{that}}} one.

what is my tradeoff, I want to enjoy the fragrance but I also want to feel relaxed and comfortable in certain levels of my Game.

You might like the fragrance alot but maybe you don't feel so extroverted when you wear it, whereas another one, will put you in conquering mode.

The fragrances affect your emotions and decision making
