First post here, hope it is a success. Need style tips for dressing like a modern pirate. Not somolian, not hipster. More of a grungy Fabio.

in a time before you would constantly wear digital cameras I met an odd yet charming boy who was wearing a tin can and a remarkably beautiful silver spoon in his chest pocket. he did not ask whether i wanted to share whatever I was eating (some local bakery thing i have not had ever since, dont even know the name) but i guess thats what pirates do and it spared me the effort of asking why he was always carrying a spoon.

please, do share your pirate accessories, too. so few of the looks posted on this board allow for anything beyond a watch

I think being subtle with it and letting your hair and beard add most of the pirate feel to it can actually work
Also just be handsome or else you'll just look like a retard in a cosplay

Are you thinking of modernizing the seafaring pirate of centuries old legend? If not you should just dress up terrorwave with a little more flair and drama.

>Modern Pirate
What you want to do then is take contemporary formal/fine pieces that are meant for wildly different occasions and then further dress them down with utilitarian grungy shit.

Take a blazer and soak it in some appropriate solution and then leave it out in the sun to bleach perhaps. Stuff high waist suit trousers into combat boots.

If you want to wear an authentic Golden Age of Piracy era throwback, I would recommend that you might consider getting a distressed linen shirt of that time period. It is not cheap, but it is supposed to be authentic and well-made. You could even get non-pre-distressed versions of such a shirt, as well. They are the classic "puffy" shirts of the 18th century, as well being good for the late 17th century.

If you want to go even earlier for inspiration, this is an example of a 16th (possibly late 15th as well) and 17th century style shirt, with a smaller collar and even puffier sleeves, with lace strings for the cuffs and neck. The Darcy Clothing shirts are authentic, but very baggy compared to modern shirts, yet they are meant to be like the original Age of Discovery/Sail/Piracy styles. This clothier also sells 19th century and 20th century shirts, and their 18th century styles are still suitable for representing shirts of the early 1800s, and some shirts through around 1880s.

its something for photoshoots, not for real life. need excellent shaving routine, nice skin, nice hair color and still some concealer. its closer to "just unkempt" than you'd think when you see a good execution in good lighting from a nice angle.
