in summer it still has to be relaxed on the top and not tight on the skin
if you tight a clean looking top you need a belt
if its very relaxed or a silk/linen shirt you might make it work without one. But then try wearing pants without belt loops
roll up sleeves if they don't have nice ends on tucked things
the top end can't be relaxed if the bottom isn't
