Do any of you here store/display your fragrances on anything other than just an ordinary shelf or in a drawer? I’m moving soon and rather than having mine scattered on a bookshelf I thought it might be nice to give them a decent place to stay. Pictures would be appreciated.

List of club/fun fragrances to try that are also okay in high heat? For example, i like ultramale but people say its only for cold weather and smells terrible in hot weather. I just sniffed my bottle of Charriol EdP with that gum in mind and surprisingly it bears some resemblance. I have used this scent on one occasion before for a cocktail with a mix of orange bitters and cinnamon and it was a bit heavy on the orange note. It was a good blend of two notes so I might want to try the orange one, I'm not sure yet!
I'm always so pleased with any new scent I use so don't worry about that, just leave it where you have this one, I don't think I'd have gotten it otherwise,
This blend was recommended to me by a reader as an olfactory fragrance and as a mild (but acceptable) addition in a traditional or mixed drinks as the orange notes on this blend are very subtle and just a hint too. It adds a little spice with a little kick, but not too much, which I love. Also worth noting that if you like citrus, citrus-floral blends, like this one will really do just fine (but be aware that I mentioned this before, it's the orange notes on this blend, not the floral). I would recommend this for the aromatics (citrus-floral-floral) or those that like citrus and citrus notes. This is my favorite blend at The Green Mill and would recommend these to anyone using The Green Mill blends; Mild None Detected Medium Pleasant Sweet and fruity with a subtle tartness that blends perfectly with an English blend. It does not pack quite as full of flavor as it should, but this adds enough bite to my blends that it's the perfect way to complement the other notes. Simply magnifique!

ive seen this guy around town, he havn't been in too many clubs, because he havn't been caught stealing, he has always been polite to anyone and anyone in his life, no matter what, but he got busted in the parking lot at the local pub. and a few hours later when the cop heard all the noise. he was in shock, havn't seen all of the stuff, but he heard it loud and clear. and he walked away, no remorse, just gone. in a moment they saw his shoes, they had to put in a second police report, after they heard everything. the shoe got stolen, no reason for that, he got into another car, and the driver of that car said he didnt want an arrest. the dude they havn't seen all night, the guy who never showed up, is now arrested for theft, because cops can't do that to cars. the cops are a bunch of fools. its getting old, we've seen too many things. havn't seen it yet, i'll always remember him laughing at your kid urinating in the snow, havn't.????? not that bad ikin with that. they were havin a fuckin good time to. they were having fun, not talking to a lot of people. there was even an acta, "pussy sucking and masturbating," "slapping dicks and masturbaling." it was fuckin funny. it was funny, and the only reason it didn't suck so much is because there was such a small crowd and they all wore hoodies and hats. it was nice in there in the foggy air, but the crowd kept growing and it wasnt over until a few guys had to move the fuck out. they were a tiny fucktoy when the lights went down. they got a load of the girl standing in front of them, and they tried to fuck her, so she was just a little dildo in a little vial. they took turns fucking her, it was so fucking funny. they didn't seem to know how strong each of them was, because some dude kept trying some shit with her dick. it was so awesome to watch as they just kept doing it until she was totally lost, moaning, and just passed out. at any rate they all went out into an alley to grab drinks again.

Are there any actual good fragrance reviewers? I don't know if I'm not looking in the right places, but all of them seem to follow the same formula:

>This is a review of [something French, horrifically mis-pronounced]
Nice. What's it smell like?
>It's from a house so niche, half their employees don't even know the house exists
Great, now what about the scent?
>The sprayer is amazing. It dumps so much juice this 50mL flacon is good for three wearings.
Uh...
>And the performance is BEASTMODE! This stuff's sillage strips paint. It projects through a bank vault door. This is a spring fragrance, well, apply it in mid-February because it's not going anywhere until late May.
Not sure I like that.
>And compliments? This gets compliments. Everyone will compliment you. Conversation will become impossible since everyone will be interacting with you strictly to compliment you
Sounds terrible. What does it smell like?
>The juice is, as you can see, blue and the flacon is made from a special tempered glass because the juice eats through normal glass.
No, the smell, not the color.
>Fruits, some flowers and vetiver...now remember to subscribe, and hit the like button and the bell and donate to my Patreon. The next twenty videos will a bunch of Top 10's and then some glowing reviews of clone fragrances that I'll be paid to rave about.

Yeah, I can relate to that. I hate this sort of reviews where they try to dissect a fragrance into pieces and then review each of its parts. All that disguised pretence that you can objectively rate something as subjective as a fragrance and make a review as objective as science - this is such a middle class thing to do that it makes me nauseous. I much prefer when a reviewer tells a genuine subjective story what a fragrance makes him feel and imagine. For that reason I prefer our /kourosposter/ over 95% of youtube reviewers. However, the HOOOOOOOHH guys sometimes achieve that as well. I'll post what I find a good fragrance review in a second.

Sarrasins (Serge Lutens) 5/5
It is said that the young Belgian composer Guillaume Lekeu fainted upon hearing for the
first time the fourth chord of Wagner’s Tristan and had to be carried away on a stretcher.
Were he around today, cured of Wagner and now passionate about fragrance, I would have
him sit down before smelling the first few minutes of Sarrasins, and would keep some 4711
handy to revive him if needed. Sarrasins (Saracens) starts with a tremendous blast of
properly indolic jasmine. Just when you are finished saying “Very nice” and are beginning to
form the thought “Where is this white floral going next?” it briefly modulates to what you
think is going to be a dark, minor-mode leather note and immediately afterward startles you
with a refulgent blast of apricots. The leather-apricots accord smells to me like osmanthus,
and the duet with jasmine then carries on satisfyingly for hours. I’ve been a Lutens fan from
day one, but of late had trouble liking several fragrances that felt oddly loud, even crude.
This one is in a completely different league in both intent and execution, an ambitious,
abstract, large, rich, sweeping thing of beauty that smells fantastic on skin, is devoid of any
overt orientalism, and could just as well have formed part of the new Chanel collection. A
minor word of caution: the fragrance is colored an intense purple and stains paper and
fabric almost as wine would. LT

This is what a fragrance review should be like.

Just tell me what it smells like and what the main notes are so I can conclude if it's worth getting a sample to try myself. I really dont care about this 19th century composer and it doesn't tell my anything about the scent. It's a review not your personal blog post.

Post some fragrance reviews that you find well written then. I'm genuinely curious. You do realize that some of us have more than a surface level interest in fragrance and reading about fragrance, right? If that's not you, just go watch Jeremy or Imagine Scent or some shit and don't even try to criticize reviewers like LT or Wafts. They're completely different ballgames.

Sorry to break this to you mate, but you are aware that the notes description provided by a producer is almost completely arbitrary right? After the scent is composed they literally let someone write down what notes does it remind him of. These notes absolutely don't mean that any of this stuff was actually used for producing the fragrance and reflect only subjective sensations of someone. And then thousands of wannabe reviewers parrot after somoene's subjective point of view like it is a gospel. This is precisely why you should respect guys like him since he is not a yet another parrot repeating notes described by the producer but providing you with another, different view on the fragrance and moreover describes emotions and pictures it evokes in him. Notice that half of the notes he is mentioning is not present on fragrantica but if you smelled Sarrasins you'd realize that he is definitely onto something. If you need just to know how the producer describes his fragrance simply go to their website. 95% of reviewers are completely redundant for this reason. Knowing this reflect on your post again.

I dont watch youtube reviews but if I has to pick one I like perfume guru. If I am curious about a fragrance I read whatever I can find on basenotes and fragrantica then take the average of them to get the general consensus if I might like or dislike it. Some convoluted story about your memories of your great grandmother's back garden in summer heat doesn't tell me anything.
>>14378180
It doesn't matter if the notes are arbitrary. If 20 people say something smells like a powdery vanilla because it reminds them of X,Y, Z fragrance it gives me an idea if I might like or dislike it. Whether or not Guillaume Lekeu would have liked it really doesn't tell me anything.
>describes emotions and pictures it evokes in him
This is irrelevant because this person is irrelevant to me. What's important to me is what the scent evokes for myself and you cant read that from someone else's review. That's why I just need the general consensus, then I can make up my own mind after I tried it. As I said I read reviews, not blog posts.

What's the hype around it is all about? Just got my 5ml decant and I get 2h of pleasant fruits with some smooth citruses and then some smooth vanilla-fruity cedar for another 2h and then it's basically gone. It might be my skin chemistry or I might be going noseblind very fast with it but I'm not sure if it lives up the hype. However, I don't like Aventus either and it gets compared to it very often. I've seen it in Boots a few times. Parfum definitely carries the Fahrenheit lineage but is quite different from the EDT. There's almost none of that petrol smell, and the leather is a much smoother, less in your face, sued-like leather. The boozy rum note goes hand in hand with the vanilla and together they up the warmth and smoothness of the fragrance while also adding a touch of sweetness. The parfum makes fahrenheit richer and deeper while also making it less brash and aggressive than the EDT. I love the EDT as well and ended up liking the parfum even more, so I'd say definitely check it out if you can find it.

Then my wife asks me what I'm wearing and she's in a different room.

The funny thing is, when she tried it on, one spray, the strength of it was absurd. For hours I could tell whatever room she'd been in.
So it's definitely a fragrance you wear for other people.

I agree with your assessment though, regarding it and Aventus. Of the two, I prefer CB. Aventus is great, don't get me wrong, but CB seems smoother to me and has a nicer, leathery drydown.

Well, yeah. CB is a pleasant fragrance. Nothing more, nothing less. If you like it you like it, if you don't, you don't. Tastes are subjective.

Aventus, though: Aventus is a lifestyle.
First you have to let everyone else know how much you spent on it, but THEN, you have to start flexing on everyone else living the Aventus life by getting really, really nitpicky with batch codes and start bickering about smoky vs fruity.

This is exactly how I feel. When I smelled it I was so underwhelmed and could not understand the hype. It does smell good, but I can see this being a release from Montblanc or some other Ross-tier designer. I think it being part of a niche line scrambles people's brains or something. I don't hate it but it is very meh. Another reason why I feel it smells cheap is how obnoxious it is in performance. Yes it's beastly but it boils down in the base to fruit and vanilla that smells kinda like bodyspray. Anyway, not trying to stir shit, but I feel like it's very overrated.

I’ve owned a couple decants of this, but before the other night I’d only smelled it on myself and on paper in the creed boutique. It was good, but not $400 good. Last Friday I was walking on 59th near the Lincoln Center where some sort of black tie had just let out and this dude is walking maybe 15 feet in front of me and even among all the various smells on the open streets of Manhattan, I was able to pick up that this dude smelled incredible. I never really approach strangers about shit like that, but I caught up to him and asked what he was wearing and sure enough it was Aventus. I still wouldn’t buy a full bottle give. It’s price and all the batch variations, but I definitely understand the hype now. Fucking sillage was incredible.
