I hate to say it but he's got a point; you look like you shop on ali-xpress. Platform shoes look like shit in general but those ones are particularly bad. goth look can be achieved without necessarily being in bad taste or looking like cosplay, but you're not pulling it off.

I mean, I was the goth who posted earlier. You witchy occultist types tend to go into the pastel color palette but it depends on your preference and what you look good in. I agree with everyone, your outfit is really strange though I'm more of an industrial goth and we tend to be into more neon stripes and undershirts but I don't think that'd work with your style since witchy types don't really do bright colors as much as we do. And then when I want to dress more normal, I just wear all black, similar to this pic. Maybe with a red turtleneck underneath.

This. They tend to go for one singular secondary color outside of black (and white) like green, blue, purple, red, etc. Purple's my favorite. But you could literallyduckduckgo (google gives too many pop-culture-y results) "goth" and see a rainbow of color among the black.

Something similar happened with my ex, he wanted me to dress more normal. I tried to do it because I was stupidly in love, and I knew his familly made not-so-good comments to him. After a while I was going mad because I couldn't wear what I liked/felt comfortable with,and to be honest it wasn't just the clothes. I had to change lots of things, and when he left me (because I still wasn't good enough) it was SUCH A RELIEF HOLY SHIT.
My current bf is not goth but he like it and I couldn't be happier.
tl;dr:as may anons already said, don't change yourself, not worth it.

Step 1: do not ask about your relationship online. Get advice from somebody who knows both of you and can actually asses things. A lot of times people make these posts because they want to leave the relationship and want others to validate the decision. Reflect on what you actually want and see if your friends think the relationship is worth keeping. Perhaps you could just explain to him that you feel comfortable in your current look, though I think not making yourself taller than him is the one reasonable request.

that being said i think u shouldnt be forced to change ur everyday appearence. occasionally i tell my gf to wear some nice dress or something more everyday womanly if u know what i mean. we are not 16 anymore and i think ur cothes should also match your age to some degree
