I have a few basic t-shirts and a cotton sweater from them, quality is pretty good.

They're a company that is Banana Republic tier, that thought they could charge prices at Brooks Brothers and Bloomingdale's level in the early part of this decade. The chickens have come home to roost.

The company is doing terrible financially. The women's dept (which is like 80% of their sales) has been hemorrhaging money for like 4 years. Ask any Stacey when the last time they went into a JCrew store - they'll say 2015.

On the men's side: Their ludlow suits are phenomenal. I love that they've mastered the skinny lapel look.

Do yourself a favor and only buy sales. They run massive sales on their men's clothing fairly routinely nowadays.

Used to be good, quality has dipped over the past couple years while prices haven’t budged.

A sad shell of its former self, quality has gone down the toilet . Everything is cheap fabric and 2% stretch , the fits are sloppy, the patterns generic.

The company's financial status has been a shitshow since it's acquisition in 2011 by vulture investors using a junk bond, leveraged buyout, for $3 Billion. Wall street has been ass raping the company to death ever since. They can't even keep a management team in place more than a few months. As soon as a new team figures out how fucked the company is, they bail and run like hell (after taking a multi-million$$$ severance package). They tried to sell the company to Amazon in 2017, but Amazon backed out once they saw how fucked up everything was.
They're losing $$$, losing sales, and nobody cares about product style or quality, just how cheap they can make it. It's a mere husk of what it used to be. Before you know it, you'll see J. Crew on sale, discounted 50% off at Walmart.

I'd rather go with the red

Their basics are good in my experience. Just have some plain colored tees and they've lasted me a long time. No issues with stitching or anything.
