Has anyone experience with dyeing a flecktarn in black and would you consider it cringe to put your country's patch on it?

>> No.14289608

>>14289603
dont put your flag on it. thats cringe. if you dont want the german one if u die it black the flag would turn black anyway. you need double the amount of die you would need for a cotton jacket in myexperience. for me it worked pretty well

>>14289603

Take the flags off. They look like shit. Plus today's Germany is a joke. Why would you want to wear that flag?

>> No.14289619

>>14289603
i used 2 packets of dylon black velvet on the stovetop and it worked really well. the fabric is pretty heavyweight so yeah one packet isnt sufficient

the velcro parts won't turn black, and i removed all the flags beforehand with a seam ripper

dyed mine black a while ago while dylon black dye

if you want it to be darker you need a bit more than 2 packets and you want the water to be fairly hot with enough salt

>> No.14290133

while black is a pretty safe color, i've removed a lot of the dye from mine (mostly the green and reds are gone, it's like a desert camo right now) and am thinking of overdyeing it idk red or something

the pattern is impossible to remove and i probably spent more than this jacket's cost on reagents but it's been a fun (and smelly) chemistry experiment

>> No.14290150

>>14289955
looks really nice anon

did you do it in a pot or in the washing machine?

the dylon intense black is washing machine only while velvet black i think you can do both methods, so OP check to make sure you get the right dye for your setup

>> No.14290156

>>14290150
yeah I didnt use the machine dye so I did it in a big bucket in my backyard

Only used one packet and mine looks like this. Did it in the washingmachine though.
Also yes, remove the fucking flags.

dyed one black as well and result is similar. it also has a little tint of dark blue which is actually really nice with the pattern bleeding through slightly

I used one pack of rit dye and it made it black but the pattern is still visible which I thought was cool. Two packs would likely make it solid black. I doubt anybody would be able to recognize it as a German jacket or even care to comment about it if you put your countries flag on it
