The riffle was conceived in the bureau of Michail Kalashnikov and it is named after him, the lead engineer. Suffix -a is added to the name because of genitive case.
Without full text it makes no sense. "Кaлaшникoв" could at least make some as the informal name of the rifle or the name of its inventor.
