I need to work on a boat this summer, i need a shoe for hot weather that i won't really care if it gets wet or not. Is this really my only choice?

i dont know why ppl opt for these kinds of shoes on a boat. leather doesnt dry very fast or breathe well. if youre going to get them wet a lot, id opt for something like these.

and tennis shoes were made specifically to be used during tennis. but you dont see pros wearing adidas court vantage. same goes for yachting, whether its competitive or tourism. and if op is working on a tug or some other shipping related boat he'll need weatherproof steel toe boots. boat shoes are a relic of the past that people wear for fashion, they dont even have non-slip traction.

i work in a kitchen. ive worked on boats. ive owned a pair of topsiders. here is the bottom of a pair of topsiders. they are not nonslip. if you want to argue that they are, then at the very least they are not nearly the same level of nonslip that professionals use in wet floor conditions
