How could he afford a Patek Philippe watch? Was a Swiss-made luxury mechanical watch really necessary for The Driver? Why not just buy a Seiko, or a Casio?

Watches are a good way to easily and quickly transport huge amount of monetary value without raising suspicion. You can even pass customs in another country, sell it there, wire the cash to a secret bank account, and exit the country without raising suspicion.

I think it's the literal opposite, literally crippling levels of self-awareness of every little miniscule detail. When I interact with someone I overanalyze that interaction to the smallest possible thing afterwards, small talk is almost impossible to me because of it. I am aware of the speed I am talking, the posture I am holding, the tone I am expressing, the eye contact I am holding, the body language I am expressing, my brain is literally working on overdrive every single time and as soon as I do something "wrong" in any of these things I feel like I did something terribly wrong.

just go ahead and wear a watch and sunglasses, but do try them out and see if they fit your face/clothing style before you buy. find sunglasses that fit the shape of your face, you can google guides for this.

there are way too many basic bitches that look completely ridiculous with their oversized aviators and they think they're hot shit, no reason you can't feel cool with sunglasses

Vacheron is owned by richemont, which nobody trusts and has shitty service.
There's no such thing as a vacheron constaintin service center, remember that.
Vacherons get lumped into the same chopshop that services panerai and all richemont brands.
The only richemont brand that has special treatment is Lange, and that's because it's German and not Swiss.
They're the only one of the richemont group to have their own specific service center.
Vacheron also is just a shell name.
All it's designs and ingenuity are farmed from Jaeger Le Coultre, richemont's only brains.

Patek, as far as it has fallen in recent years, is still an independently owned watchmaker that's not just a shell name owned by some luxury goods conglomerate.

There's a reason why collectors trust rolex and patek, and disregard so many other brands: these last two independently owned watchmakers are not subject to the fickle whore that is private equity.
Richemont, LVMH, Swatch Group et al., are all beholden to the whims of their shareholders. Patek and Rolex have no such slavish concerns.

I don't like patek, in fact vc's designs speak to me more. I don't like patek designs and they've gotten lazy at the top, but there's a reason why the value of a patek doesn't drop as far as a vc on the secondary market, and rolex is king in that regard.
The brand has value.
VC has no value, and who knows where it will be in a decade. That's the problem with groups like richemont; they can't just mix and match and kill shit off at will.
Only one they have to protect and keep happy is JLC since they come up with every ounce of ingenuity that family of watchmakers is capable of.
Lange is a special case, but I'm wary of making it my "one watch" that I'm saving up for.
I don't trust those richemont cunts.

And Richemonts partly dictates Lange & Söhne how to pay their employees. Basically, if you're not a watchmaker (so the people who construct, partially design and craft the watches), you are getting paid better. Of course the top people (most of them inherited their position) get paid so fucking much its almost a crime. It's a damn shame.

And altough Patek is nice, they still have movements that are heavily based on still existing ETA movements which still don't have the level of finishing like a Lange has. At least on a lower price level. You only get good shit at Patek if you pay a shit ton.
