Just got my snk809. Only took a month to get it here. Why does the second hand kind of skip around when you set the time? Sometimes stops, sometimes goes backwards.

>> No.14177207

>>14177204
typical of non-hacking automatic seiko movements.
don't worry about it. you can slowly turn the crown backwards to get it to "hack" if you want to set it to the second.

Opinions on powermatic 80? There's a inexpensive Tissot chronometer that uses one of these that I'm considering.

Must have been a while ago. Everything I've read about it suggests it should be good though:
- Free sprung balance
- Silicon hairspring
- Laser ablation regulated from factory
- Balance screws for manual rate adjustment
- 80 hour power reserve
Only negative part I found was the lower frequency.

>> No.14177477

Lol, noticed on my snk809 the minute hand keeps moving in time setting mode, never seen that on a watch before but I've only had quartz watches. Is this a common thing on mechanicals? Makes it fucking hard to set the time.

>> No.14177482

>>14177477
Maybe because it doesn't stop when you set the time (hacking function). The 4R and up movements from seiko do hack.

How the fuck am I supposed to know? I've watched hundreds of videos where they talk about hacking and all they ever mention is the second hand.
This guy here also said "seconds don't stop", not "hands don't stop" >>14177506
It's implied when you say "second hand doesn't stop" that the other hands do, because otherwise you'd fucking say "the hands don't stop", not "the second hand doesn't stop". Who's the retard now?
