its a trend. welcome to the wide world of fashion. expect it to go away completely in a few years time, then become considered cringe by the mainstream, then to come back into trend 20 years later

nah its about every 20. the 90s brought back 1970s hippie elements, esp denim. new agers made patchwork of denim, corduroy, finished quilt, and whatever else kind of fabrics were lying around around. enter the 2010s, where wearing stonewash mid to high rise jeans is now cool.

look at how the 2000s brought back vibrant CMYK colors, silhouettes, and 1980s dance/synth/pop influenced music (eg M83, the rapture, !!!). and last example now look at the netstalker/deepweb/y2k threads here on /fa/. there is a sudden revival in interest in this aesthetic and its because enough time has passed for it to become interesting again. and y2k itself has roots in 1960s ideas (see pic)

and idk about culture losing originality. i m o culture as such does not have originality. and furthermore originality does not exist period

Yeah, this guy's right.

The 70s had a 50s revival with American Graffiti and Happy Days. The 80s had a slight 60s revival with a slight psychedelic resurgence. The 90s had a 70s revival in music and fashion (eg. Madchester, rose tinted round glasses, etc). 00s had 80s music become popular again, also Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. 10s had 90s revival in fashion/culture. And you're starting to see a 00s revival at the end of this decade as we enter into the 2020s.

the so called revivals are perpetuated by 30+ year old media producers
