Just got my first job as an associate professor at a local university. I only own two suits and three dress shirts. I need help on a wardrobe. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well first I'd find out the dress code, Imean, do you have to wear a suit every day? My guess is you probably don't. You say you have 2 suits and 3 dress shirts? Well there's 5 days worth of outfits really. You can go;
>Day 1 - Trousers 1 and Shirt 1
>Day 2 - Trousers 2 and Shirt 2
>Day 3 - Trousers 1 and Shirt 3
>Day 4 - Trousers 2 and Shirt 1
> Day 5 - Trousers 1 and Shirt 2

Wear a couple of different jackets, add another pair of trousers and a couple of shirts and you're covered really.

I understand you're trying to help...but as someone who also works in an office, this distillation of what it's like to try and be fashionably creative at a 9to5 makes me want to neck myself more than anything ever, ever.

There's your problem man, a 9 to 5 isn't the place to be fashionably creative. Either nobody will even notice, or you'll just be regarded as the guy who tries too hard.

I mean I know, that's the struggle...

but [fuck that,] I actually do just fine because they aren't anal about the dress code, and I do happen to like the classier look anyway. It could be so much worse.
