i own similar boots, the doc martens 10 eye, and i wouldn't recommend them as all-purpose boot

they're heavily stylized and there are many occassions where you cannot wear them

Best for leatherfags, skinheads and other subculture-fucks.

Solovair has shoddy quality control, the sole is just not liable for winter usage (slippery, cracks easily with temperature changes), the leather cracks easily, but they can be fixed (i.e. patched and stitched up) and half/re-soled by any basic cobbler. For a pair of sub-400€ shitkickers, they're nice boots. And they shine up real nice. If they only made these same boots with better soles and more heavy-duty leather, they'd be perfect. I'd gladly pay upwards like 300€ for a pair like that, since I'm big gay for big gay boots.

solovairs are a meme.

Uncomfortable, the leather isn't even half as good as the pricetag suggests. The durability and construction is solid though.

They are super chunky and the shape is actually pretty ugly IMO, even compared to Docs.

Now that redwing is all china (good qual china, but china) you may as well just get irish setter in steel toe. I love my steel toe irish setters, leather that is worth taking care of, easy to put better insoles in, speedlaces are dank to use, good times. Highly reccomend for just under $200 work boots. But the red wing heritage is nice if you care about muh fashion. Just dont buy the cheap cheap sub $100 irish setter plastic boots thata fucked up.

I've had these and I had Doc monos in the past. If anyone cares, here's some thoughts:

Both Docs and Solos are the exact same shoe. Don't believe the 'better quality' meme. Leather, construction, stitching etc. is the exact same. The only differences are the end of the shaft on Docs has an extra lining, while the Solos are raw cut. Also the leather on Solos are not as thickly coated in plastic as Docs, which makes it a bit softer initially. The grey stitching on Solos doesn't really bother as in the product photos, as it is rather dark IRL and blends in with the black. The lettering on the pull tab on Solos isn't really the same green as on photos, but more of a dark bottle green. The rubber outsole on Solos is cut vertically, while on Docs is cut horizontally which gives them those lines around the edge. Also I tried on many Docs and had a few Solos and honestly the quality control on Solos is HORRIBLE. On one of my pairs they literally forgot to weld the middle sole together in one spot. Always make sure to check your pair thoroughly so you can return if need be.

Anyone know boots like these, but with proper stitchdown welting?
Everything about this boot I like (slim last/toebox, clean design) but I don't know if those soles can be repaired in the future.
For $210 I should probably care less, but I figured I might as well ask.
