Uniraonically right. Mininalist brands like COS, Acne, Margarett Howell and Our Legacy are "ageless" so to say.
Avoid trendy clothes, go for something that is unique to you yet with which you are sure you will wear it in 5-10 years.

>> No.14023855

You wear basically the more moderate stuff that you really really liked from when you were younger, and that's it. The rest is just ordinary stuff that is for oldies. That's the only way to have any style as an older guy without looking like a cunt trying to fit in with the kids.

On my free time (not officewageslave time), i dress like pic related.

I have two hoodies but i wear them either at home or when i go to Disneyland or shit like that.

At one point, you don't want to change your style every year, and you don't want to make a statement either. The clothes should complement you, not the other way around.

Age really has nothing to do with it, it's all about how you look.

I am mid 30's but pass for about 24. if I wear a suit or "adult" clothes I look like a larper. Meanwhile I have friends my age that look way older, late 40's or so and if they dressed in a younger way they would look stupid.

At 26 I looked about 17. It's like why people such as Jared Leto can get away with wearing most things despite being almost 50 because he looks youthful.

26 is still really a kid, by the way. You'll know that in 10 years time.

Wherever you go, unless it’s an office, 95% of the people wear jeans.

Appropriate to the place and time. This shows that you know what up and have enough resources to get everything needed.
Think winter jacket for winter, light blue striped shirt for summer, brown boots for autumn, dark outfit for night out, light outfit for daytime and so on. Now, apart sport gear, ditch letters, words, images, zippers of your cloths. Unless you're working in fashion industry or something the pic related is maximum fancy combination you can invest in, excess will make you try hard thus juvenile.

the 50s and 60s brought along surf fashion and the Hawaiian shirts that are flaunted in sleaze core generals, leather jackets that SLP takes tons of inspiration from, ivy league fashion was founded in the 60s, business wear was founded which paved the way for every thing that’s used in modern business wear, bikinis were invented, short shorts became mainstream, the hippie subculture started, beatniks were at their peak in the 50s, and the British Invasion had just begun

im not remotely related to /pol/ and i know my stuff

postmodernism begins with kant questioning the assumptions behind modernism, continues with heidegger and later foucault and levi-strauss exploring the historical and sociological contingencies behind any cultural or philosophical belief. then there hav been countless others, but they were mostly focussed on certain aspects of postmodernism, such as derrida on language and baudrillard on cultural and sociological consequences of the loss of absolute meanings and referents. theres also deleuze&guattari as important figures, but i never quite got them.

thats the philosophical part and i know well what im talking about here.
historically, the collapse of both socialist/communist, "third way" (fascist, peronist, whatever) and capitalist (liberal global free trade) utopias means there is no non-contingent certainty behind the truth of certain economic models and their implications, either.

aesthetically, it just means that anything goes as long as you stand behind it, and there are fewer reasons to dress in a certain way every day. even dress codes in conservative business areas are gradually loosening up, powerful tycoons like zuckerberg are walking around in white tees, so there is little reason to believe in a single, correct, universal, culturally grounded dress code for young adults or 30somethings.

Also
>jeans, leather jackets and all that stuff existed, but was associated with teens and lowlifes.

Well yeah jeans were associated with the working class since that’s what they were invented for. Much like carhartt jackets they became a widely diverse peice that doesn’t just sell for work related use but for fashionable pieces as well. But from a personal stand point if you invest in some boot cut Levi’s, or wranglers and use them just for outdoor work you’ll be just fine, personally if I’m trying to look nice I don’t really consider jeans. And the leather jackets were marketed towards everyone as a riding jacket but it just so happened to be adopted by the people who rode motorcycles back then aka young adults and teens. To which the leather jacket became a staple of rebellion and was expanded upon in popular culture and in punk fashion in the 70s and 80s

Dress the way you want your life to reflect. Some professions require a certain degree of constant presentability. It's not a bad idea to get into the habit of dressing well every day, but it's hard to dress in clothes that look professional but don't also look over the top if you're at a family function or something.

There's a few ways you can improve your general fashion. Stop wearing decals (any visible imagery or branding looks pretty tacky), use the light/dark principle of light coloured top and dark bottom, and vice versa, use blander colours, keep vibrancy to accessories. Cut down on accessories. Less is more. Align your facial hair with your clothes (beards don't go with suits, you pretentious fucks, but stubble or clean shaven does).

Identify certain clothing outlets that have the look you're looking for. Recognize that more money buys nicer fits, but nicer fits look shit if you're body isn't fit. Work out, eat well, and dress modestly and you'll average out your shittiness.
