Decided to try the intense again today and am liking it a bit more this time. The cypress and angelica are very herbaceous and green, balanced nicely with the musky leather of oud and castoreum. Definitely its own fragrance, doesnt touch the original imo, but its strong as fuck and a great composition if you can pull it off. Which I'm not sure I can.

The point of using perfume is the same as using fitting, comfortable, well made clothes - to feel confident. In the end of the day you've got to like how you feel, like yourself. At some point you might fall into entire "collecting hobby" where novelty is the king. I've barely escaped it having now figured what I want from a fragrance exactly (in my case - soapy, fresh scent). To follow on from your post, I feel that confidence is something of a prerequisite before wearing a fragrance. It can draw attention to you you otherwise not have had. Despite what people say, fragrance is a rarity on men that will often get attention in the right scenario. If you don’t want the attention from strangers, don’t wear it. Ten years ago when I was a bumbling idiot that couldn’t talk to people I would have hated the thought of somebody talking to me out of the blue. Now I feel I have enough confidence to pull it off.

Fragrance doesn’t make the person attractive or interesting, but it can at least be an opening. I have 20 fragrances, with maybe a couple more that are tempting me, but I have enough for every occasion and season to keep me happy for years at this point. If the house burnt down, realistically I’d just grab the Aventus and maybe Noir Extreme and run. Those two can keep me happy for a long time. I don’t need the other eighteen, but it’s enjoyable to me just the occasional whiff of my own fragrance. It’s like a constant pleasant surprise throughout the day that makes me smile.

It’s always best to see fragrance as a hobby and not a woman magnet. That way it can stop you spending money you don’t have on imaginary fantasy scenarios.
