For now, assume 10k. I'm pretty sure the small scale production movement with a tourbillon is not a workhorse movement. I assume Rolex movements do a better job than a 6r15, eta 2804, or an eta 2824, but I know jack shit about engineering and how it applies to watch movements. Even if I eyeball a schematic I have no clue how to tell what is better if we pretend a watch is a tool rather than jewelry.

ETA movements are nice and reliable. The ebauche movements are available in different grades. Some people look down on top brands using ETAs but those brands usually modify the movements themselves and they do replace parts as they see fit. What are you trying to get at here? After a certain price point, buying a simple 3-hander will be more about the legend of that brand and the finish on the relatively simple movement. You pay for handfinishes on case, dial, and movement instead of precision. With this in mind you could say that buying Rolex, Omega, or JLC is actually the peak at which you'll get the best kind of watches, while paying more will only add to more handfinish and grand complications, as well as status (read: patek philippe and similar brands).

I just think Seikos have much nicer designs.
I'd love Citizen just as much if they had nice, unique designs with high-quality finishing like the Tuna, and some of the Grand Seikos.

I've never seen any such designs actually come up anywhere, so I've never bothered looking into the brand.

That area has a different architecture compared to the original Zeitwerk.
On the new Zeitwerk date, that area now has a recessed half-circle with the same finish found underneath the anchor-shaped part of that remontoir bridge on the old Zeitwerk.

Well you certainly could gets a nice vintage for that price range. /g/ would always recommend an Omega Constellation or Seamaster from the early 1960's. Many IWC or JLC dress watches from that era too.

As for modern. Well you can try looking at the JLC Master Control or Polaris, the GS SBGA387 - at the top end of your range though. >>14019716 isn't a bad choice either. If you really like simple clean design then obviously look at Nomos.

They go for about the same price and still keep great time. The other main differences are 45 minute chrono register vs 30 and the original is slightly smaller. Plus the patina has it's own appeal if youre into that

Lange keeps focusing on massive baroque complications. It's neat to see a tourbillon triple flyback perpetual calendar dual power reserve outsize date piece, but it's not going to cause much of a buzz.
